This post has to be one of the hardest heartfelt post I’m sharing.
I have been canning for over 30 years and I have had the privilege of getting to meet some of the most incredible people who have become like family to me, I’ve gotten to see entire generations of kids grow up and have children of their own. For many of those years I’ve poured my entire heart into Sophie’s Choice. Early mornings preparing for markets, late nights ensuring there were pickles and jellies and other goodies to share. Countless hours were spent making sure everything was just right and every one of those hours has brought me immense pride. As a one person operation, it’s been both incredibly rewarding and incredibly demanding. This year, as we soon head into warmer months, I’m choosing something I haven’t had in a long time — a well needed break and summer spent with my family & friends, slowing down, and catching my breath.
To this amazing community, thank you. Your support, encouragement, and loyalty have meant more to me than I can ever express. You’ve helped Sophie’s Choice grow, and you’ve carried me through every busy season, every market, and every event.
I’m not sure exactly when I’ll be back, but I want you to know this isn’t forever. In the meantime while I’m taking the time I need to rest and reset, all my products will be available at Made in the Mountains in Invermere, select products will be available at the Windermere General Store and Twig and Berry Trading Post in Parson, and my habanero jelly will remain in AG Valley Foods in Invermere so you’ll still be able to get your Sophie’s Choice favourites.
When the moment feels right I’ll return — refreshed, recharged, and ready for what’s next. Wishing you all a beautiful spring and summer filled with the people and moments that matter most.
