My new face oil is done sitting!

Up until now I had an oil made with olive oil and crushed evening primrose petals that was doing great but as any hand made oil, it eventually went rancid. No matter how cold and dark your storage is and how dark the glass bottle is, it’s inevitable.

This new little buddy is grapeseed oil, chamomile, mint, calendula, and lilac. A bunch of goodies to calm the skin and a bit antiseptic.

Huge thank you to my neighbour for grabbing me the grapeseed oil while she was out after I accidentally ordered grapeseed conditioner…don’t ask. Hope the conditioner is working well though! Lol

🌿 Changes at Bitty Birds Homestead 🌿

When I first started Bitty Birds Homestead, I dreamed of building a business around my passion for herbalism, gardening, and art. Over time, as I shared my homegrown adventures, my bakery began to grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined.

After much reflection, I’ve made the decision to focus my business efforts on the bakery, which has truly taken flight (thank you all for your support!). That means Bitty Birds Homestead will shift gears to become a lifestyle blog—a place where I continue to share my love of herbalism, art, crafts, gardening, cooking, baking, and entertaining, but not as a business.

If you’ve been enjoying my herbal creations or homestead-inspired posts, don’t worry—they’re not going away! This space will still be full of inspiration and creative ideas, just with a renewed focus on sharing.

For all things culinary and baked goods, be sure to follow my bakery page Bitty Birds Bakery

Thank you for being part of this journey and supporting my passions. I can’t wait to keep sharing my world with you!

💚 Bitty Birds

Market this weekend!

We are moved again for this market so (if things don’t change) we are actually up in the corner next to on Sunday. …..which if you haven’t tried their rice flavouring…you need to hit them up also! FYI…also gluten free! I’ve been adding the coconut flavour to everything…like literally everything including French fries.

Check out our bakery menu for this Sunday plus our homestead items! We will have gifts to start your Christmas stash.

Hot item this weekend is homemade hot chocolate made with real semi sweet chocolate and marshmallows made from scratch. Add a market cookie for a discount!

This I why I chose to grow Hungarian heart paste over traditional Roma.

I have plenty of Romas this year thanks to kind donations from locals all over when my greenhouse fell over and I lost most of my plants but I did have the odd Amish paste and Hungarian heart survive.

While my Romas are giving me plenty of little Romas, once it’s all cut up, my big boys give me more meat in the end. Beware they are indeterminate though! So need a bit of pinching to get the best crop.

Mix it up one year and give one of these big guys a try.

Best part of the season. Home made bread with home made mayo and home grown tomatoes. No gosh darn preserves.
