My organic elderberries are of the "sambucus nigra" species, which is the safest, most beneficial type of elderberry. It is the species that has been extensively studied and proven beneficial for an array of health issues. Unpasteurized, local honey adds beneficial enzymes and other healing properties, adds sweetness,
and also acts as a preservative to extend shelf life. Ceylon cinnamon is safe for daily consumption, unlike "regular" cinnamon which contains small amounts of coumarin, which can lead to liver toxicity and clotting problems in susceptible individuals. I would not give my children cinnamon on a daily basis unless I knew it was Ceylon. Organic ginger root has healing properties and is great as a preventative, and soothing to take when sickness does strike. Organic Star Anise is the base used to make the anti-viral medication "Tamiflu". Organic Cloves have been used medicinally for centuries because of their active component, eugenol, which acts as an anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-bacterial agent. Organic Rosehip powder is very high in vitamin C, something we all need more of, especially when sick! All ingredients serve a purpose, aid in healing, and speed recovery from viral infections.
