The PNE Beef Zone isn't just about seeing cattle on display. It's also about connecting the dots between BC ranching and the food we put on our plates.

Visitors can explore beef nutrition information, pick up guides and discover recipes and tips for cooking beef at home.

It's one more part of the bigger ranching story we share at the Beef Zone: caring for cattle, stewarding the land, producing nutritious food and supporting the families and communities that make up ranching in BC.

For BC ranch families, raising cattle is more than a job. It's a way of life. And the PNE Beef Zone gives those families an opportunity to share that story directly with consumers.

The new deferral areas have just been announced. The deferral program allows producers in the designated areas who are forced to sell all or part of their breeding herds due to extreme weather, such as drought or flooding, to defer some income from those sales.

About the Canadian Cattle Young Leaders Program:
Canadian Cattle Young Leaders (CYL) welcomes young people ages 18–35 across Canada, involved in various aspects of the beef supply chain, to be paired with an industry leader in their specific area of interest for a nine-month mentorship. Through mentorship, networking, and travel, the Canadian CYL Program acts as an industry succession planning tool to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills and tools they need to continue to drive the growth and profitability of the Canadian beef industry. The PNE Beef Zone has something for the youngest visitors, too.

The Kids Zone gives children a fun, hands-on way to learn about cattle, ranching and where their food comes from, with puzzles, colouring activities and games to keep them busy along the way.

Sharing our BC ranching story is more than just to adults. It's also about helping the next generation understand the people, animals, land and communities that make up our agricultural story.

While the kids are busy, parents and grandparents can chat with ranchers and our Beef Zone Coordinator and explore the rest of the Beef Zone, including live cattle, videos, VR experiences, Guardians of the Grasslands, nutrition information and more.

The Beef Zone is brought to life by BC ranch family volunteers, who are proud to share their way of life with PNE visitors.

Effective tomorrow, Friday August 28, at noon PDT the Off Road Vehicle (ORV) prohibition is rescinded in the Southeast, Cariboo, Coastal and Kamloops Fire Centres.
We recognize that ORVs play an important role in recreation, hunting and accessing the outdoors for many. Restrictions are only considered when multiple factors indicate an elevated wildfire risk, heightened wildfire activity and limited capacity to respond to new fire starts.
With improving conditions in some regions of B.C., and cooler wetter weather in the forecast we are now able to rescind these prohibitions. We continue to monitor wildfire risk and prohibitions may be implemented or rescinded as conditions change.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation shown by ORV users during this period. We know many riders take fire prevention seriously and recreate responsibly on established roads and trails. If you're returning to the backcountry, we ask for your support in reporting any new wildfires through our app or by calling *5555.
