My second favourite day of the year… the air is sweet with the smell of the Saskatoon bushes on the evening walk. The grouse are making their mating thumping sounds (which kinda sounds like my dishwasher but out in the pasture area 😂). The barn is cleaned and warm. All my favourite spring “weeds” in bloom. And we have baby chicks tomorrow!!! 🎉🐣
30 broilers and only adding 3 layers to the dozen this year. Love this season!!

Spring has sprung!! 🌱🧹🌼
I’ve never really paid much attention to the groundhog (is that a gopher around here?)
Finally had a day of all 10 hens laying!! 🐓🍳 This is rare occurrence even in the summer. Let’s go girls!!

Baby chicks are on order 🐥 Mostly the ones that supplement our freezer but a few of my favourite Columbian Rocks too (my girls didn’t make the winter). May have to put a few green eggs in the incubator soon to keep those chicks company in April 🤔

And we’ve finally done it… we made cheese!!! 🧀 Not the home milked goat cheese I first imagined but we made cheese! Turns out I can buy all the ingredients while I try to figure out if my goats are just pets or pets with benefits. Third batch of mozzarella this weekend and still so much to learn! 🤓
