Most of our pets are happiest when on something/someone lol

Willow was naughty until Ryker told her to sit on the chair. She didn’t move a muscle for the next 15 mins. I was pretty proud. She’s learning, albeit at her own frustrating pace!

Maybe our local ice cream shop should put a pup cup on the menu lol 🫶🏼

It’s amazing how life tends to come full circle. I feel SO BLESSED every year, as our life builds and grows our own version of stability in a rapidly changing world. I feel blessed to look back at struggling to make a meal, to raising the animals I’m serving to my family in our homemade meals.

I feel especially blessed for amazing clients facilitating my growing cleaning business. Some have been using my help for years, and stood by me as I put myself through university and grew into a mother of 3. So many new wonderful clients that I’ve enjoyed working with, and have learned from and grown with. All of you help me put food on our table and I’m so thankful for your support.

I feel extra blessed for the stunning flock/herd/pack of critters I love so very much. I’m thankful for their health, abundance, and the folks who have supported or shared this journey in any way. I could have grown my knowledge with such extent if it hadn’t been for amazing other farmers who offered their valuable time and expertise to me for nothing.

I feel so very deeply thankful for being given the amazing gift of raising these 3 boys. I’m so very blessed. They are so much fun, so exhausting and make me strive to be a better person every day.

I’m also thankful for a stupid body that mostly does what I ask it to do and I’m thankful for the desire to do a little bit of everything! Lol.

I will never stop being shocked by how fast it all goes. I’m doing my best to soak up every moment 🫶🏼💞

Discussing property security with the kids tonight.

Me, half joking, “First line of defense is to make sure you don’t look like an easy target. A good way to do that is to get the dogs barking… they are a lot on their own.”

Son “Well, not like they’d bark if we asked them too though…. They don’t guard us.”

Me 🙄

Son “Well, do they?”

Me from the kitchen “DOGS! HELP! WOOF EM’!!”

Our dog pack, quiet and sleeping soundly around the living room, JUMP TO ATTENTION, barking their fool heads off. The Pitbull even got up. Lol.

Happened so quick I couldn’t even get in a “told you so” lol. What a racket.

Son yells “Ok but now what?”

Me “OK DOGS F**KEN GET EM!!”

Dogs suddenly slamming themselves at the door like whackos until I get through and get the door open.

The dogs go screaming off in several different directions, looking for threats. If they find something, they’d be on it until it left the property. But there’s nothing because I was just testing them.

Son, hands on hips. “Great now they are running off into the woods in the dark”

Me “DOGS! COME! COOKIES!”

The furnado furiously returns and I dish out appropriate cookies to all the best woofs. They mill around until they are sure the threats are over. I say “Ok go lay down” and they trickle off to do just that.

Son, clearly annoyed. Lol.

Me “What?! They are great dogs. It just took commands to tell them when and where. They will guard you, and it works even better if you are scared as that triggers them to be worried if they know you are worried. They love us, therefore they will guard us. They strive to keep their home safe. They just need commands and boundaries to keep them safe and then they will do their best to keep us safe.”

Annoyed kid walks off, lesson over 🫠

Sure they don’t looook scary. But they don’t know that 🫡

Up to 3 goats available. I won’t be selling all listed goats, so we will see who goes first (make the choice easier for me please!)

1) Robin: Young Nubian/Saanen Doe, with newborn 3/4 Nubian 1/4 Saanen Doeling. Big b***d girl.

Excellent mother, so is her mothers line. Her daughter Flutter, is small but strong and fiesty. Pains me to offer them, but I can’t keep them all. Both for 450

2) Dandy: One lovely yearling 3/4 Nubian x 1/4 Boer doe. Has been living with our billy last couple weeks, so could be bred, but I haven’t seen it and I am not saying she is. Her mother was my very best producer and I also wanted to keep this one. She’s the chonky unique black and white goat. 300

3) Poppy: One 9 month old doe. She is pure Nubian as far as I know but could be a cross, I didn’t breed this one. She’s growing well, but is a bit smaller than my other almost yearlings. She is shy but sweet. A good eater but low in the herd. Has also been out with the Billy, but I haven’t seen her covered either.

4) One choice not-yet-weanling. Doeling or buckling. I have 3 or 4 Nubian cross kids available to choose from. I will offer one of them for 200.

Will only sell to home that has goats so they aren’t alone 🙂

It’s insanity to think putting a small obstacle in front of a RAGING RIVER will stop it.

Closing local options is stupid and thoughtless. A small move meant to pacify protestors.

Canada currently exports (live & meat) 16% of the GLOBAL horse meat market.

That is a huge part of an industry.

We breed horses specifically for meat in this country. You think closing one nearby slaughter plant changes that??

Ending Horse Slaughter in Canada - Another Step Forward

We have received confirmation that the Bouvry Exports slaughter plant in Fort Macleod, Alberta, is permanently closed. The facility is no longer accepting horses for slaughter! This news comes after months of speculation, with horse rescuers reporting empty pens and very little activity at the plant.

The news was further confirmed by a prolific kill buyer, who stated today that horses will likely now be trucked to Viandes Richelieu (a division of Bouvry Exports) for slaughter in Quebec.

We celebrate the closure of Bouvry Exports but realize that there is still work to be done! Horses across Canada and from the U.S. will continue to be transported to Quebec for slaughter. This industry, as well as the live exports of draft horses to Japan for slaughter, must end completely.

We thank horse advocates for their work in bringing one chapter of this horrific industry to a close. Well done!
Now let's place the issue of horse slaughter where it really belongs - within the troubled pages of history books. Let's end this industry in Canada.
