Rocky Lane Dorsets

Life on the farm over the last month:
September lambing, loin scanning and 100 day weights for the June lambs, the sheep were on scrub land clean up duty (and enjoying the apples while they were at it), and of course our littlest helper always joins in on the fun!

Our first All Canada Classic was a success! It was great to be surrounded by fantastic sheep and to meet and reconnect with fellow sheep breeders. We loved hearing stories from breeders who knew my grandparents as well. ♥️

We would like to thank the organizers and committee for putting on such a great show, sale, and banquet.

A big thank you to everyone who bid on our sheep and, of course, to the buyers! Our ewe lamb went to Alberta, and our ram went to Quebec. Thank you for trusting in our breeding program.

Last but not least, we would like to thank 4S Maple Lane Farm for trailering our sheep and helping us out throughout the event (including babysitting and teaching us how to eat lobster 😊).

We are very blessed!

We have had our eye on this twin ewe lamb for a while. She will be shown and sold at the All Canada Classic in Pictou Nova Scotia.

5 years!

Five years ago today, our first 15 sheep arrived. A lot can happen in such a short time! We've enjoyed growing our flock since then and making some big investments in our sheep, including buying back as much Rocky Lane genetics as we could, achieving our Maedi Visna A Status, getting set up for grazing, finally getting a handling system, and—probably most exciting for us right now—importing genetics from New Zealand.
We've made some great friends since getting into sheep and reconnected with people we had met through my grandparents which has been really special. ❤️

We can't wait to see what the next five years bring!
