Hazeldell Orchards We are Allen & Wendy Reid, owner-operators of Hazeldell Orchards. Hazeldell Orchards has been in the Reid family since 1903.

We grow pears for commercial sales but we also sell to the public from our home-based fruit stand during harvest season.

WE ARE STILL OPEN!!

The roundabout at the end of Byrns Road is closed but we are accessible from Benvoulin Road. Don't let the barricades and "Road Closed" signs at Benvoulin and Byrns Roads deter you -- Byrns Road IS open to local traffic and for our customers! Thank you to all who have found their way to us in the past week.

We have Bosc and D'Anjou pears, Ambrosia and Empire apples, and Bartlett pear juice. We'll be making some Ambrosia apple juice soon - watch for our notice when it's ready for sale.

We'll be open at least until November 7, unless we sell out before that. Hours will remain the same: Open Mondays-Saturdays 9-5:30; Closed Sundays and holidays.

Update for week of October 19: Reminder that beginning Monday October 19, Byrns Road (and our fruitstand) is only accessible via Benvoulin Road. Please don't let the barricades at the entrance to Byrns from Benvoulin deter you -- our road IS open to local traffic and businesses.

What we have: Bosc pears to eat soon and D’Anjou pears to save for later; sweet Ambrosia apples and Empire apples which are a MacIntosh/Red Delicious cross; plus Bartlett pear juice.

We are sold out of Bartlett, Happi and Harrow Crisp pears; Jonagold and Gala apples; Gala apple juice and the pear/apple blend juice. We hope to have some Ambrosia apple juice for sale in the next few weeks.

We’ll be open Monday – Saturday 9-5:30 and closed on Sundays for the rest of October and possibly into November, depending on fruit and juice supplies.

Update for week of October 13: We have Bosc & D’Anjou pears; Ambrosia, Jonagold and Empire apples, plus Bartlett pear juice and a limited supply of Gala apple juice.

Our last Bartlett pears are ripe – some are ready to eat; some are ready to make into jam. We have Harrow Crisp & Flemish Beauty pear 2nds. We are out of or nearly out of: Happi pears, Gala apples, Granny Smith apples and our Pear/Apple blend juice.

We plan to be open until the end of October and possibly into November, depending on fruit and juice stock.

Please be aware: as of Monday, October 19, the round-about at the end of Byrns Road will be closed for construction so you will only be able to access Byrns Road (and our fruit stand) via Benvoulin Road. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.

Happy Thanksgiving! Have you considered serving some delicious fresh 100% apple, pear or apple/pear blend juice over the holiday weekend? We have 5 litre bag-in-the-box juice for sale in the fruitstand. There are three varieties to choose from: Gala apple; Bartlett Pear; and a Bartlett Pear/Sunrise Apple blend. It’s great served chilled or heated with spices.

Also available are ripe Bartlett pears to eat now or Bosc and Anjou pears to ripen later. We have a few second-quality Harrow Crisp and Happi pears left plus Flemish Beauty pears. We also have Gala, Ambrosia, Jonagold, Granny Smith and Empire apples for sale.

We are open Friday and Saturday 9-5:30. We’ll be closed Sunday and Monday for the Thanksgiving holiday but back to regular hours on Tuesday, October 13.

Last call! We're bringing out our last 1/2 bin of the new Happi pears today. Sweet and a bit tangy, they have been getting great reviews by customers and staff. Come give them a try before we run out!

They’re heeeere! Ambrosia apples have arrived and are ready for sale in the fruit stand. Also just in: Jonagold apples and 100% Gala apple juice. And still available: ripe and ready to eat Bartlett, Harrow Crisp and Happi pears; plus Flemish Beauty, Bosc and D’Anjou pears in good shape for storing or travelling; and Gala apples. Also Bartlett pear juice and a Bartlett pear/Sunrise apple juice blend.

Hours are Monday-Saturday 9-5:30, Closed on Sunday.

It’s a sure sign of fall when the winter pears are harvested. An early harvest season coupled with a light crop due to the cold snap during blossom time contributed to the earlier-than-usual completion of our D’Anjou pear harvest. These “keepers” are now available in the fruitstand. They need a cool location to ripen properly, and time. It can take 6-8 weeks for these sweet treats to ripen; even longer if you can keep them in a cooler or refrigerator, but they are well worth the wait. They stay a bit firmer than a Bartlett but are every bit as juicy and sweet once ripe.

While you wait for the D’Anjous to ripen, we have ripe Bartlett and Harrow Crisp pears, ready to enjoy, as well as Flemish Beauty and the new “Happi” pears and Gala apples.

Come in and try our newest pear variety, “Happi”. It’s a nice blend of tangy and sweet. It ripens at room temperature like a Bartlett. We’ll have them in stock for a few weeks, depending on how quickly they go.

We’ve also got plenty of Bartlett, Harrow Crisp, Flemish and Bosc pears and Gala apples. Ambrosia apples should be in the fruitstand by next week.

Our Sunrise apple juice is almost sold out, but we still have Bartlett pear juice and an apple/pear juice blend. Coming soon: Gala apple juice.

Open Mon-Sat 9-5:30; Closed on Sundays. We will be closed on Wednesday, September 30 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Update for week of September 14: We have a good supply of Bartlett, Harrow Crisp and Bosc pears, Gala apples, and 5 litre bag-in-the-box apple, pear and apple/pear blend juice. We have a few green plums left. Unfortunately, we are sold out of Sunrise apples. Also we regret that we will not be able to bring in Mac apples this season.

Hours are Monday-Saturday 8-5:30. Closed on Sundays.
