UPDATE: Case closed (and caught red-handed) 🥃🚨
First off, a massive thank you to our incredible community. The outpouring of messages, shares, and tips has been nothing short of overwhelming.
Thanks to an alert community member who spotted the story on Castanet and immediately contacted both the RCMP and our team, the suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody yesterday.
The officers shared a laugh with us when making the arrest: they literally caught him red-handed. Turns out, breaking through glass with bare hands leaves a mark—and the suspect was apprehended with two half-empty bottles of our Cask Strength PROOF Wh**ky still sticking to his bloody hands.
The evidence has safely made its way back to the distillery, though both half empty bottles are now officially sealed and retired due to… biological hazards.
Huge gratitude to the Vernon RCMP for their swift action in keeping our local business community safe, and a special shoutout to our 81-year-old dad Tony and our Master Distiller Chris for jumping straight into action early Sunday morning and also to Neville and Hunter from On Side Restoration to prompty board up and keep the doors open.
To everyone who sent kind words and tips that we haven’t had a moment to reply to yet: we see you, and we appreciate you.
The $200 gift certificate is headed to our sharp-eyed tipster, and we’re back to business as usual. Stop by for a dram anytime—through the front (now wooden) door, please!
