Kelowna Scotch and Fine Spirits Society

We are a society of Scotch enthusiasts that like to meet to enjoy some good company and a few drams.

Welcome to the Kelowna Scotch and Fine Spirit Society, where you'll have the opportunity to imbibe in some excellent scotch and other fine whiskies and spirits, such as bourbon, cognac, rum, gin and tequila. Anyone of legal drinking age is welcome and you need not be a connoisseur. The society is equally a social gathering as it is an opportunity to discover the complexities of both single malt wh

iskies and other fine spirits, many of which are not available in BC! The society will meet roughly once every six weeks, each night with a theme, and include a flight of five specially selected offerings. Membership will include an initial one-time fee of $30 which will go towards Glencairn glasses and other start-up costs. Each meeting itself will range between $30-$60 per evening depending on the offerings that night.

What a great night.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us for our Dubh Glas tasting - and an extra special thank you to Grant Stevely for making the trip up from Osoyoos to spend the evening with us!

It was a real pleasure getting to taste through the lineup while hearing directly from Grant. The team at Dubh Glas is doing some pretty remarkable things, and it definitely shows in the whisky.

If you haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, we’d highly recommend making the trip down! It’s worth it!!

And thank you to Andrew and Christine for pulling some special bottles out of their own collection for some pretty unique bottles to try!

Monday’s tasting is almost here!

Join us on April 20 at 6:30 PM at BNA Brewing Co. for an evening of Canadian single malts from Dubh Glas Distillery.

We’re also very happy to share that Grant Stevely, Head Distiller at Dubh Glas, will be joining us as our special guest.

Dubh Glas has been turning out some seriously good whisky out of Oliver, and this lineup will feature a range of releases from the past few years. Whether you already know their whisky or this is your first time trying it, it should be a great night.

Our first tasting since January is a full lineup from Dubh Glas Distillery… a solid showcase of what’s coming out of the South Okanagan right now.

A mix of wine, rum, and bourbon casks, plus some peat and a couple cask strength pours to round things out.

There are people who leave a mark on a community simply by being who they are. Jenny was one of those people.

She welcomed us in, shared her space, her knowledge, her laughter… and made every gathering feel like something special. Time spent with Jenny was never just an event - it was a home coming, and one we’ll always be grateful for.

Jenny had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and connected. We cared for her so much… and it was always clear just how much she cared for all of us in return.

Our hearts are with Rainer and her family. We are thinking of you, and sending all our love.

Jenny’s presence will be missed more than words can say… but never forgotten.

Our friends at Okanagan Whisky Enthusiasts are hosting a very special fundraising tasting in support of Jenny Newell, and we encourage the KSFSS community to come out and be part of it.

This fundraising whisky tasting brings our wider whisky community together to support Jenny and her family through her “Gift of Time” GoFundMe. All proceeds from the tasting go directly to the fund, helping ease financial pressures so their focus can remain where it belongs - on time together.

The night will feature an outstanding tasting lineup, including two 40+ year whiskies, along with a Bottle Raffle made possible by the generosity of individuals and organizations who have donated unopened bottles.

• Bottle Raffle tickets are available with the purchase of a tasting ticket
• Multiple entries are welcome (and encouraged)
• Winners are limited to one bottle each

Holiday and Family Update
Jenny had her first big outing on Friday, joined by her husband Rainer and her parents, Chuck and Steph, who recently arrived from Southern France. Together they visited downtown Kelowna and took in the festive sights at the big Christmas tree.

Yesterday brought another milestone: Jenny enjoyed her longest walk yet—30 minutes—along the Mission Greenway with Rainer and her parents. The sunshine, fresh air, and the sight of ducks along the path made it a joyful and memorable outing. These moments of togetherness are a gift, especially during the holiday season.

Medical Update
Today Jenny is seeing her doctor to have her sutures (staples) removed, an important step in her journey. Looking ahead to the new year, one of the family’s top priorities is scheduling Neuro Optometry appointments to address Jenny’s vision challenges. Unfortunately, no appointments were available sooner, but this will be a key focus early in January.

Jenny, Rainer, and their family are deeply grateful for the incredible support they’ve received from the community. Every donation, message, and gesture of kindness has shown how loved Jenny is in the Okanagan and beyond. Your generosity continues to give them strength and the gift of time together as a family through this time.
