White laundry turning orange? We can fix that. 💧

This Thompson-Nicola acreage was dealing with very hard water, orange staining in the laundry, discoloured bathwater and plenty of sediment.

Testing showed approximately 32 grains per gallon of hardness and 2.0 mg/L of iron. We put together a treatment system to tackle each problem:

✅ LiveSmart Iron Shield — to remove iron and address the orange staining it causes.

When this customer called from Clearwater, we assumed he meant BC. Turns out he meant Clearwater Lake… MANITOBA. 😂

Somehow, one of our BC ads had made its way to him. He was dealing with very hard water and a serious iron problem, his old system wasn’t keeping up, and he told us he couldn’t get anyone to come out and help.

So we flew out to have a look.

Along with the water issues, there was another challenge: a crawl space with just 48 inches of clearance. A standard softener and iron filter simply weren’t going to fit.

We got our guy in Calgary to custom build these two beauties specifically for his water and the space we had to work with. Then came another flight, picking up the equipment in Calgary, and a 12-hour drive out to get everything installed.

And the results?

✅ Hardness went from 40 grains per gallon to zero on our test.
✅ Iron went from a major problem to none detected on our final test.

Those were the readings right after installation, before the first regeneration.

Getting this one done took some doing, but having a happy customer with water he could finally feel good about made the trip worthwhile.

Well water can change—and this Anarchist Mountain home is a good example. 💧🏔️

At this property near Osoyoos, iron has been an issue that comes and goes. Hardness has climbed from around 17 to 21 grains per gallon, with total dissolved solids (TDS) close to 400 ppm.

We put together a solution with that history in mind:

✅ A custom-built LiveSmart water softener designed to tackle hardness and treat iron and manganese when present.

💧 Beautiful lakefront home. Seriously hard water.

This installation took us to Quilchena, BC, where the homeowner’s water measured 32 grains per gallon of hardness. Their aging softener was only bringing it down to 22 grains per gallon—still very hard water. It was time for an upgrade.

We installed a LiveSmart SoftFlow water softener alongside a whole-home carbon block filter, adding another layer of filtration throughout the home.

We also added a custom touch: a bypass that lets the homeowner send softened water to the outdoor taps when needed—perfect for having soft water available to wash the deck and car. 🚗🏡

💧 CUSTOM WATER SYSTEM INSTALL — OSOYOOS, BC

Not every home needs the same water treatment system — and this Osoyoos installation is a perfect example.

These homeowners wanted a solution that did more than simply soften their water, so we custom-built their LiveSmart system specifically to handle hardness while also providing treatment for iron and manganese.

That’s especially relevant in Osoyoos right now. The Town currently has a Water Quality Advisory in effect for elevated manganese, with recent levels reported between 0.125 and 0.159 mg/L.

The installation itself definitely wasn’t a typical basement job.

The main water line was located inside a crawl space that was only about 3 feet high, so we had to do some custom plumbing to make the system practical to own and service long-term.

We installed a 20” whole-home carbon/sediment filter and built a dedicated bypass arrangement that places the filter right near the crawl-space entrance. That means when the cartridge eventually needs to be changed, there’s no need to crawl all the way underneath the home just to service it.

That filter gives them another layer of protection against sediment and discolouration, while the carbon component helps reduce chlorine, taste and odour.

Osoyoos also has notably hard municipal water. Town testing has shown hardness readings around 291–318 mg/L as CaCO₃ at some wells, which works out to roughly 17–19 grains per gallon.

To finish the package, we also installed an under-sink reverse osmosis drinking-water system for their kitchen. (RO system not pictured.)
