We're excited to announce that we've brought in a small trial shipment of Generations Apiary Honey — available in 1 kg glass jars. It will be in the store on Tuesday June 16th!

INGREDIENTS (per serving)
3 oz Italian Pinot Grigio
2 oz orange juice
1 oz peach nectar or peach purée
Splash of sparkling water
Garnish with an orange slice and fresh raspberry

🍷 Does a glass bottle really make your wine better?

Have you ever wondered why wine is almost always served from a glass bottle? It feels like tradition—but is it actually improving the wine inside? 🤔

Here’s something surprising: glass doesn’t change the flavour of your wine at all. The real reason we use it? Tradition.

Long before glass bottles, ancient Greeks and Romans stored wine in large ceramic vessels called amphorae. Later came stone jugs… and eventually, in the 1600s, glass bottles (originally only for the wealthy!).

By the 1700s, winemakers discovered that storing bottles on their side—sealed with cork—helped preserve wine better. That’s when things really started to look like what we know today.

And those classic shapes?
• The Burgundy bottle (smooth, sloping shoulders)
• The Bordeaux bottle (tall with defined shoulders)

Both were designed with purpose—but also became part of wine’s identity over time.

🍇 Now here’s the twist…
The wine world is evolving again. From bag-in-box to wine pouches, convenience is starting to challenge tradition.

So the question is…
👉 Will glass bottles always be the standard?
👉 Or will they one day be as historic as amphorae?
