In this last weekend of summer, the farm is in transition. Summer crops are winding down while fall crops continue to size up & mature. The root crops, Brussels Sprouts trial, and cabbage patch are strutting their stuff. Apples are coming on strong. Nut harvest is in full swing, with our most bountiful hazelnut crop to date and behold! Our first ever chestnut on the hill! 🎉

Here's some views of life on the hill. Busy and fulfilling days! When frost threatens, we head out to assess and harvest what is ready - today is was flower seeds and melons. The squash patch is protected by its blanket of leaves, but not for long whether or not frost hits tonight.

By the way, seed garlic is just about all sold out for the year! Stay tuned for a fall seed sale if we can get around to doing an inventory of what we have packed up still in abundance. Head to our website to join the seasonal email newsletter and be the first to know!

In the meantime, we'll be making the most of these last longish days of sunshine, preparing ourselves of the reality of life on the other side of the equinox. Filling our cellars, pantry, and barn with the bounty from the land - local friends interested in helping with harvest feel free to reach out! There's plenty to share. 💚

SEED GARLIC IS GOING FAST! Pre-order on our website now for fall shipping Canada-wide. New this year is Elephant Garlic! Pictured here at harvest in its full glory.

Email newsletter subscribers get first dibs, so be sure to sign up if you wish you'd known sooner - I'm letting myself be slow to post on socials at this time of year, and may keep that pattern going for digital well-being.

Take care out there and grow your own!

Head to the website to pre-order garlic (& fall seeds!): https://yonderhillfarm.ca/product-category/live-plants/seed-garlic/
