You’ll notice something new in the orchard this season. It looks like a tent, but it’s called a Malaise trap, which will help us collect insects from our orchard. We’re excited to be participating in research this summer through BugQuest, a national community science initiative helping discover the biodiversity across Canada’s landscapes.

Why are we doing this? Insects are the backbone of our food systems! They pollinate, enrich soil, and support the food web that sustains us all. By participating in this research, we’re contributing local data to BugQuest’s nationwide effort to track and protect ecosystem health.

So on your next visit, come explore, take a closer look, but please don’t touch!
