Nothing exciting happened this week.

The freezer was cold.
The egg whites behaved.
The allergen cleaning passed.
The mini macarons fit perfectly.
The linen arrived.

So, all in all, a pretty successful week.

Five years ago, I bought a bakery.

I knew how to make macarons. I knew how to run a kitchen. I thought I had a pretty good idea of what I was getting myself into.

Turns out, I had a lot to learn.

I didn’t know sales would explode in my first year and took a long time to react.
I didn’t know what a Pantone was.
I didn’t know how hard it would be to leave the kitchen.
I didn’t know how much of the business would depend on systems, processes, suppliers and people I’d never meet.
And I definitely didn’t know how many of the people I worked with would still be here five years later.

Five years in, I’m still learning.

Here’s to the lessons you don’t know you’re going to learn when you start.

Good food brings people together ❤️

It’s more than our slogan; it’s a big part of why we do what we do. And sometimes, the best reminders of that have nothing to do with what we’re making.

It looks like Corry bringing in something she baked at home, because apparently feeding her family wasn’t enough.

It looks like Jenny’s garden overflowing, and sharing the bounty with everyone around her.

It looks like Yuliia celebrating her birthday the Ukrainian way 🇺🇦 by bringing treats for everyone else.

It looks like Nate, our unofficial head food scout, knowing exactly where to find the good stuff. (The donuts never disappoint.)

And sometimes, it looks like flowers.

Because great people bring more than just good food. They bring generosity, thoughtfulness, and little moments that make an ordinary day feel a bit better.

We’re pretty lucky to have a team that keeps finding ways to share something good.

Good food brings people together. Good people make it happen.
