We specialize in agricultural education programs for schools and the public. Eagle Acres Dairy is a small, family run Dairy Farm, Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze. We teach visitors about our safe Canadian milk supply as guests visit the animals and enjoy a hayride.

Wildlife Wednesday!

Little Brown Myotis Bat
Again this summer we are participating in a field study through UBC that checks the health and bat activity on our farm.

A health concern the researchers are watching for is White Nose Syndrome. It is a fungal disease that has spread from Eurasia in the early 2000s.

Super interesting results from our farm last year show an average of 260 bat calls per night!

Photo 2 shows the huge net set up over the pond to catch the bats. The bats are safely caught, observed, measured and blood samples taken before they are released for a night of feeding on the area insects.

We love our natural mosquito protection!!

Wildlife Wednesday!

We have a pair of Barn owls that live in our heifer barn.
We see them fly out at dusk to hunt. Thankfully they help the cats control the rodent population.
They are super hard to photograph!!

Periodically we see them roosting in the rafters but they are usually hidden in their nest box during the day.
