Community Update
Good evening everyone,
I wanted to provide an update regarding our fuel service. At this time, we have run out of fuel. I am actively working to secure another supply as quickly as possible and will continue to keep everyone informed as I receive updates.
I also want to be honest about the current situation facing our Co-op. Based on our current financial position and sales, it is becoming increasingly difficult to see a sustainable future for the store as an independent Co-op. Simply put, we are not generating enough revenue to cover the costs of keeping the business running.
Over the past several months, we have worked hard to reduce our operating costs wherever possible. We have significantly lowered our in-store expenses in an effort to improve our financial situation, but unfortunately those reductions alone have not been enough to overcome the ongoing financial challenges.
Despite these challenges, I have not stopped looking for solutions. I have been in contact with representatives from Northern Stores to explore whether there may be an opportunity to establish a Northern Store, or another smaller-format store, in our community if the Co-op is unable to continue operating independently. While there are no guarantees at this point, these conversations are ongoing, and I am committed to exploring every possible option to ensure our community continues to have access to grocery and fuel services.
At this point, I cannot say with certainty what the next little while will look like. There are still many conversations taking place, and a number of factors that are outside of our control. What I can promise is that I will continue to keep everyone informed as decisions are made and more information becomes available.
I know this is difficult news, and I understand many of you have questions. Please know that I am doing everything I can to find a path forward for our community. As soon as I have more information to share, I will provide another update.
