🐷 A Little Farm Update — We’re Downsizing Our Pigs 🐷

I wanted to share a little bit about what’s going on behind the scenes here at the farm, because over the next while you’re going to see me posting quite a few of our pigs looking for new farms.

No, we are not getting out of farming. ❤️

About four years ago, I injured my knees, and I’ve been struggling with them ever since. I had finally gotten to the point where it felt like there might be some light at the end of the tunnel and a plan to get one knee fixed.

Unfortunately, I recently injured my other knee quite badly, and I’m now facing the possibility of needing surgery on both.

As much as I love what we have built here, I also have to be realistic about what my body can handle right now. Pigs require a lot of physical work, and I need to make the workload on the farm lighter while I figure out what the next chapter looks like with my knees.

So we have made the difficult decision to dramatically downsize our pig numbers.

This does NOT mean that I’m giving our animals away or having a fire sale. These are animals and genetics that I have invested a lot of time, money and heart into, and finding the right homes is still very important to me.

But it does mean that I’m going to be much more willing to part with animals and groups that I probably wouldn’t have considered selling before.

There will be breeding animals, young stock and some great opportunities for people who have been wanting to get started with pigs or add to what they already have.

Whatever is not sold will unfortunately have to be processed… which I really hope it doesn’t come to that because I would hate to do that with my breeding pigs.

I wanted to explain the reason behind all of the upcoming posts because I know people notice when a farm suddenly starts listing a lot of animals. We aren’t quitting. We’re adjusting.

Sometimes farming means recognizing when something needs to change so that you can keep doing what you love long term.

For now, I need fewer chores, fewer heavy jobs, and a farm that is a little easier for me to manage while I get my knees sorted out.

I’ll be posting what is available over the next little while. If you’ve been thinking about adding pigs to your farm, keep an eye on the page — there may be some animals available that normally wouldn’t be. ❤️🐷

🎉Bonus: 🎉And of course, as always when you buy a group of pigs from us, you will get:

✅ free access to our online course
✅ free mentorship to help you on your journey

Thank you to everyone who continues to follow our farm, support what we do, and understand that sometimes even the best plans have to change.

🌿 THE NEW BEGINNINGS DIFFERENCE — DAY 6
It’s About More Than the Animal ❤️

All week I’ve been sharing why we do things a little differently here at New Beginnings.

And really, it comes down to one simple belief:

We don’t just want to sell you an animal. We want to help you succeed with it.

That’s why we offer education.

That’s why we take the time to talk with people before they buy.

That’s why many of our animals include access to our online courses.

That’s why we offer mentorship after they go home.

And that’s why I’m always happy to answer questions and help people decide whether something we raise is actually right for them.

Sometimes the right answer is YES!

And sometimes the best advice I can give someone is to wait, change their setup or choose something different.

I’d rather build relationships with people who are happy and successful with their animals than simply make another sale.

❤️ That’s the New Beginnings Difference.

And if you’ve been following along this week and thinking that you might be ready to add something new to your farm, we do still have a few opportunities available.

🐕 Maremma puppies looking for working farm homes
🐖 Mangalitsa pigs available for those wanting to add this incredible heritage breed to their farm

And we’ll have many more exciting things coming from New Beginnings as we head into our next breeding and hatching season. 🐣

If you’re unsure what’s right for you, reach out and let’s talk.

Ask the questions.

Learn first.

Make the decision that’s right for YOUR farm.

And if you choose New Beginnings, know that we’re here to help you along the way. ❤️

EDUCATION • SUPPORT • MENTORSHIP

That’s what we want New Beginnings to stand for.

🌿 THE NEW BEGINNINGS DIFFERENCE — DAY 5
Why We Don’t Try to Be the Cheapest Farm

There will almost always be someone selling an animal for less.

And that’s okay. ❤️

We’ve never built New Beginnings around being the cheapest place to buy an animal.

We’ve built it around VALUE.

When you purchase from us, you’re not simply paying for the animal standing in front of you.

You’re also benefiting from the years we’ve spent raising these animals, learning what works, making mistakes, solving problems and turning that experience into education that we can pass along to you.

Depending on what you’re purchasing, that can mean:

🌱 Online education
📞 One-on-one conversations
❤️ Ongoing mentorship
🐓 Practical, real-life experience
💬 Someone to turn to when you have questions
📚 Resources you can continue learning from

And behind every animal are the countless hours spent feeding, raising, handling, breeding, caring for and working with them before they ever become yours.

We’re not trying to sell the cheapest animal.

We’re trying to provide an animal AND the knowledge and support that give you the best opportunity to succeed with it.

For the right person, that has value long after the purchase price has been forgotten. ❤️

🌿 THE NEW BEGINNINGS DIFFERENCE — DAY 4
Our Support Doesn’t End When You Take Your Animal Home ❤️

One of the things that’s most important to me is what happens AFTER you leave our farm.

Because that’s often when the questions actually begin. 😂

You get your new animals home and suddenly you’re wondering…

Is this normal?
Am I feeding them enough?
Is my setup right?
Why are they doing THAT?!
What should I do next?

That’s exactly why we offer FREE ongoing mentorship with many of the animals we sell.

I don’t want you to feel like you’re completely on your own once you’ve made your purchase.

You can learn from our courses, but you also have the opportunity to reach out when something comes up that you weren’t expecting.

🐖 Our Mangalitsa pigs are a perfect example.

We still have a handful available, and when you purchase your pigs from us, you’re not simply taking home piglets.

You’ll also receive access to our Heritage Pigs online course PLUS free mentorship to help you along the way.

Whether you’re raising your first pigs or adding Mangalitsas to an established farm, we’re here to help you learn.

Because selling you the animal is only the beginning.

Helping you succeed with it is the part that matters most. ❤️

🌿 THE NEW BEGINNINGS DIFFERENCE — DAY 3
Why We Created Our Online Courses 🎓🌱

When I first started raising animals, I learned what so many new farmers eventually discover:

There is SO MUCH information out there.

And half of it contradicts the other half. 😂

You can spend hours jumping from Facebook groups to Google to YouTube trying to figure out what you’re supposed to do.

That’s one of the reasons I created the New Beginnings Academy.

I wanted people to have somewhere they could learn the basics in one place—and then actually have someone to ask when real life doesn’t go exactly like the textbook says it should.

We’ve created courses covering things like:

🐓 Raising Poultry
🦆 Ducks & Geese
🦃 Turkeys & Guinea Fowl
🥚 Egg Hatching
🐖 Heritage Pigs
🐕 Raising & Training Maremmas
🌱 Sustainable Gardening
🔪 Processing & Packaging

…and more.

These aren’t meant to replace experience.

They’re meant to help you START with more knowledge so you don’t have to learn absolutely everything the hard way.

And for many of the animals we sell, education and mentorship are included.

Because knowledge shouldn’t be an afterthought.

It’s part of setting you—and your animals—up for success. ❤️

People often look at my life and think, “That’s exactly what I want.”

They see the farm. The animals. The businesses. The freedom of being self-employed. They see the things that worked out, the growth, and the successes.

But what most people don’t see is what happens behind closed doors.

Being self-employed and being an entrepreneur isn’t just about freedom. There is no boss standing over you telling you to get up and get things done. You have to be that person for yourself. Every single day.

You have to keep going when you’re exhausted.

You have to do the things nobody sees and nobody applauds.

You have to make decisions when you don’t know if they’re going to work.

You have to be willing to try something new, fail at it, learn from it, change it, and try again.

And sometimes you have to work incredibly hard for a very long time before you see the reward.

One of the biggest things I’ve learned is that you cannot become so attached to the way you’ve always done things that you’re afraid to change.

The world changes. Customers change. Markets change. Your life changes. And your business has to be able to change with it.

Sometimes growth means adding something new.

Sometimes it means recognizing an opportunity before everyone else does.

Sometimes it means admitting something isn’t working anymore.

And sometimes growth actually means letting go.

You can’t do everything yourself forever. There comes a point where holding onto every single job actually keeps your business small. You have to recognize when it’s time to delegate, hire someone, simplify, or move into the next season of what you’re building.

And through all of it, you have to learn to celebrate the small wins because there are going to be plenty of days when the big wins feel very far away.

I think that’s the part of entrepreneurship we don’t talk about enough.

Social media can make it look like entrepreneurs are sitting on beaches, driving expensive cars and living a life where everything somehow fell perfectly into place.🤪

Behind many successful businesses are years of early mornings, late nights, mistakes, financial risks, failures, sacrifices, uncomfortable decisions and moments where quitting would have been much easier than continuing.

I absolutely love the life I’ve created.

But it didn’t just happen to me.

I had to build it. And I’m still building it.🎉🎉

And I think that’s important to say because not everybody is cut out for this type of life.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that.

But if you want the freedom that comes with entrepreneurship, you also have to be willing to accept the responsibility, uncertainty, sacrifice and constant growth that comes with it.

I came across this video from Ed Mylett and it really hit home for me.

Because when you look at someone’s life and think, “I want what they have,” remember:

You’re seeing what they built.

You probably didn’t see what it took to build it. ❤️👩‍🌾

🌿 THE NEW BEGINNINGS DIFFERENCE — DAY 2
Why Do We Offer FREE Phone Calls? 📞

Because sometimes the best thing I can tell someone is:

“I don’t think this is the right fit for you.”

And that’s okay!

Before making a big decision—especially with something like a livestock guardian dog—I want people to have the opportunity to actually TALK to me.

Tell me about your property.

Tell me what animals you have.

Tell me what predators you’re dealing with.

Tell me what you’re expecting your dog to do.

And ask me ALL the questions. ❤️

I’d much rather spend 30 minutes helping someone figure out whether a Maremma is right for their farm than have someone take home a puppy they weren’t prepared for.

Those conversations aren’t about pressuring you into buying.

They’re about helping you make an educated decision.

🐕 We currently have a couple of our Maremma puppies still looking for their farms, so if you’ve been considering adding a livestock guardian dog, this is the perfect opportunity to book a free call with me.

No pressure. Just a conversation.

Sometimes 30 minutes can save you YEARS of frustration—and help make sure both you and the animal are set up for success. ❤️

🌿 THE NEW BEGINNINGS DIFFERENCE — DAY 1
Why We Do Things Differently

When you purchase an animal from New Beginnings Poultry & Ducks, our relationship doesn’t have to end when you drive away.

One of the biggest reasons I started teaching was because I saw how overwhelming raising animals can be when you’re new.

You can read a hundred different opinions online and somehow end up MORE confused than when you started. 😂

That’s why we’ve built education and support into what we do.

Depending on what you’re purchasing from us, that may include:

🐓 Online courses
🐖 Step-by-step education
🐕 Free mentorship
📞 One-on-one phone calls
💬 Someone you can reach out to when you have questions
🌱 Practical advice based on actually raising these animals ourselves

I don’t expect someone buying their first pigs, chickens or livestock guardian dog to already know everything.

That’s what we’re here for.

We aren’t interested in simply raising animals and sending them out the gate.

We want the people who buy from us to SUCCEED with them.

Over the next several days, I’m going to share a little more about why we do things this way and what you’re actually getting when you purchase an animal from New Beginnings.

Because to us, it’s about much more than the animal. ❤️

We are still taking calls to find the right fit for Rosie. We will not place her in a home just to make a sale as we want it to be the right fit for both our customers and for Rosie.

No, she is not a bad dog that is not why we have her up for sale. No, she’s not terrible with the animals and that is also not why we have her available and it is also not why we are saying only outside of the fence. She is still a puppy and still requires training though she has had a lot of training already. Just want to make this clear.

Also, if you book an appointment with me to meet her and you don’t show up at the farm, you will be immediately taken off the list unless there’s a good reason.

Please send me a message if you would like to hop on a call and we can go over your goals and your set up and see if she would be the right fit!👩‍🌾

** Only serious inquiries only please she is not the price of a mixed livestock guardian dog. She is a pure registered maremma, 6 mths. Old
