🌧️ Too much rain can be just as heartbreaking as drought. 🌾

Our hearts are with everyone across the Prairies dealing with flooding, tornadoes, and severe storms. Here at Fresh Field Farms, we’ve thankfully been spared from the worst, but the constant rain has been taking its toll.

Row cover has been battered, freshly planted seed has become waterlogged, and our lentils—normally busy fixing nitrogen—are showing stress as some nodules turn brown in the saturated soil.

Low areas in our fields are drowned out, including some of our celery. It’s hard to watch crops go backwards after months of planning and care, but farming has always been about adapting and finding hope in the next forecast.

☀️ We’re hoping for sunshine, warmer temperatures, and a chance for crops to recover. To all the farmers and gardeners facing another rainy forecast, we’re right there with you.
