The torch has been passed! 🐓✨

If you’ve noticed a slight dip in egg production from our older hens lately, don’t worry—it’s completely natural! As the days get shorter in the fall, our veteran girls naturally slow down their laying to rest and prepare for the winter.

But we saw this coming! Back in the spring, we raised a brand-new batch of chicks with this exact moment in mind. We are thrilled to share that these young pullets have officially started laying their very first eggs, stepping up to the plate just as the older girls take a well-deserved break.

🥚 A quick heads-up on your next carton: Since these young girls are just getting started, their new "pullet eggs" are still a bit on the small side. You might find a few of these adorable, smaller eggs mixed into your dozens for a little while until they get the hang of things!
🌈 The colorful upside: We deliberately chose breeds this spring that would add to our rainbow egg basket! So while these new eggs might be small for now, they are absolutely gorgeous and packed with beautiful new colors.

HEIRLOOM APPLE GUESSING GAME
Help us solve a neighborhood farm mystery!!

As some of you may know, we've been working hard behind the scenes to restore the old orchard trees on our property for the last few years. We've managed to bring several antique varieties back to life, but identifying them accurately has been a fun guessing game for our family!

We know many of you have deep roots in this area and might recognize these old-fashioned fruits from your own family history or childhood gardens. That's why we're turning our flower stand into a community guessing game this autumn!

We've put our "best guesses" on the baskets at the stand (we think we have true Gravensteins, Maiden's Blush, Rhode Island Greenings, White Winter Pearmains, some varieties of Pippins, and lumpy little Pumpkin Sweets!).

WANT A FREE APPLE? Here is how to play:
1. Swing by the stand and check out the heirloom baskets.
2. Pick out an apple that catches your eye.
3. Message our page with your guess on what variety it is (or a memory of eating them!).
4. Take that apple home for FREE as a thank you for helping us out!
(If you just want to snack, they are also available for 25¢ each!)
