Meet our Hyper Champ: Amelia Fletcher 🥋

Amelia was born on November 6, 2016, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling in 2025 and is already making her mark as part of the competition team at Gracie Barra Ottawa. Amelia competes in IBJJF and ADCC events, including the Ontario Open, as well as local tournaments throughout the Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto areas.

Beyond the mats, Amelia loves reading and math. As the oldest of four siblings, she enjoys helping others learn, whether she’s teaching her siblings and classmates how to read, write, and spell, or sharing her passion for training.

With her love for learning and dedication to both academics and martial arts, Amelia brings a wonderful spirit of curiosity and enthusiasm to everything she does.

We’re proud to have Amelia representing the Hyper community and look forward to following her journey as she continues to learn, grow, and achieve new milestones!

This is where açaí grows 🌴💧

Deep in the Brazilian Amazon, along slow, muddy rivers like this one, the açaí palm grows wild. It’s tall and slender, with feathery leaves that sway high above the forest.

At the very top, out of reach, heavy clusters of small dark purple berries ripen in the sun.

To harvest them, local harvesters climb the thin trunks by hand, often barefoot, with only a woven loop around their feet. They cut one cluster at a time and carry it back down to the riverbank. From there it travels by boat.

Then a race against time begins. Açaí is so delicate that it starts losing its flavour and colour within hours of being picked. So the berries are pulped and frozen fast, to keep everything that makes açaí what it is.

That’s why you’ve probably never seen a fresh açaí berry outside the Amazon. Every spoonful of real açaí has made this same journey: from the top of a palm, down a river, across an ocean, all the way to your bowl.

And right now, it’s harvest season. 💜

Every tub of Hyper Açaí starts with a feeling: missing home. 🇧🇷💜

When we moved from Brazil to Canada, there was one taste we just couldn’t find: real açaí. Thick, rich, deep purple, the way we grew up eating it. So in 2021, we opened a small açaí bar to share it. Today, that same açaí reaches cafés, gyms, restaurants and açaí lovers across Canada.

And it all begins in Pará, Brazil, the home of açaí. 🌴

Our authentic açaí sorbet is made right where açaí grows. Straight from the machine, it goes into each 7L tub. Then every single tub is filled, weighed and checked by hand, because consistency matters, whether it’s your first scoop or your thousandth.

Once ready, each tub is sealed, labelled and frozen, then shipped straight from Pará to Canada. Frozen all the way, so the flavour and colour arrive just as they left the Amazon.

More than a celebration. A tradition that brings a country together 🇧🇷

Every October, something extraordinary happens in Belém, Pará. Millions of people take to the streets for the Círio de Nazaré, a tradition that has brought generations together since 1793.

For the people of Pará, the Círio is more than a religious procession. It is a moment of faith, family and belonging. From the thousands of devotees holding the famous procession rope to the boats gathering along the Amazon waterways, every part of this celebration tells a story about the people and culture of the region.

Families gather around traditional dishes like pato no tucupi and maniçoba, while local artisans celebrate their heritage through colourful handmade miriti toys. In Belém, culture is not simply remembered. It is lived, shared and passed from one generation to the next.

And this is the same region where our açaí story begins 💜

In Pará, açaí is much more than a global favourite. It is part of everyday life, local traditions and the communities that have cultivated and enjoyed it for generations.

Meet our Hyper Champ: Arjun Das 🥋

Arjun Das is a young athlete from Laval, Quebec, who has been dedicated to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling for several years. From an early age, Arjun developed a strong passion for competition and loves challenging himself against tough opponents while continuing to grow both as an athlete and as a person.

For Arjun, being an athlete is about more than competition. He takes pride in representing his team and being part of the local martial arts community, always striving to lead by example through respect, perseverance, and dedication.

When he’s not training, Arjun enjoys photography, traveling for competitions, and spending time with his brothers. Whether he’s on the mats or supporting his teammates, he brings the same commitment and positive mindset to everything he does.

We’re proud to have Arjun representing the Hyper community and look forward to following his journey and seeing what he accomplishes next.

It all started back in 2022, in the early stages of the post-pandemic world, when we wanted to bring a little bit of our home country, Brazil, to Canada. 🇧🇷💜

We opened our first juice bar and açaí shop in London, Ontario. But it was very difficult to find high-quality, premium açaí sorbet in Canada — most options were watered down, blended with other fruits, and had a very low percentage of açaí.

So we decided to take matters into our own hands and created Hyper Açaí: our own formulation of premium, high-quality açaí with a high pulp content.

Almost five years later, our story has had many ups and downs, but it’s always important to remember where we started 💜

A Moment of Appreciation 💜

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of being part of the London Open Jiu Jitsu and spending the day surrounded by the athletes, coaches, families, and supporters who make the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu community so special.

Events like this are a reminder that it’s about more than what happens on the mats. It’s about the people, the connections, and the community that comes together along the way.

We’re grateful to be part of these moments and to support a community that continues to inspire us through passion, dedication, and a love for the sport.

Fun fact: did you know that most of the açaí fruit is actually the seed?

The part we use to make açaí pulp is a surprisingly thin layer of deep purple fruit that surrounds the seed.

That small layer is where açaí gets its beautiful colour, rich texture, and distinctive flavour. During processing, the pulp is separated from the large seed and transformed into the açaí pulp that becomes the base for so many açaí products, including our sorbet.

It’s pretty fascinating when you think about it: the açaí you enjoy in your bowl comes from just a thin layer of fruit surrounding the seed.
