Last but not least, the farm's #1 unpaid employee.

"Working with my wife" — ask Ben his favourite part of the job and that's the answer, no hesitation. Good answer Ben ;)

His favourite flower - dahlias.

Ben's got it figured out and understands why the dahlia field expands 50% every season. Ben's ability to help us mechanize so many processes at the farm is what makes every expansion possible.

Meet Grandpa (and his friend Alice) — 92 years young, and still the heart of this farm.

He's farmed his entire life: corn, beans, sugar beets, and wheat, pigs, beef cattle, and milk cows. We're proud to grow our flowers right on his home farm — and he's still out here helping every chance he gets.

The biggest lesson he's taught me: "That's farming." It sounds simple to say, but the mindset that comes with that phrase is so much more. It's coming to peace with things you can't control and rolling with how it goes. In the end? It always works out.

New to the crew this season, Tyler's the guy behind the wheel of our truck 'Marigold' getting every wholesale order where it needs to go.

From Andrea and the team: "We are so thankful for all of Tyler's hard work delivering on the road — rain or shine, mile after mile."

And in the interest of full honesty: turns out he's a very patient man, keeping up with an all-woman crew and humouring every one of Andrea's brainstorms and crazy plans she throws his way.

That's a real page from Anne's scouting notebook behind her name — pest counts and all. Pretty much sums up her job.

On the team since fall 2023, she's the reason our fields stay ahead of weeds, pests, and everything else trying to slow the flowers down.

If she were a flower, she'd be a sunflower: "such a cheerful flower, it just makes you smile."

Fun fact: she helps lead a 4-H Flower Gardening club.

From Andrea - this farm wouldn't be what it is without Anne. She's an amazing teacher and a wealth of knowledge! Her years of field experience is such an asset that I appreciate more than I can explain.

Three seasons in, Ange is the reason every workshop looks (and feels) effortless — she swears the clean-up after is oddly satisfying too.

If she were a flower: gomphrena, "cute, fun, and full of awesome."

Her fav flowers to work with - I love working with the greenery. It’s durable and easy to divide and separate from the buckets.

From Andrea - Ange and I have known each other for years, and we just jive when it comes to the workshops. Ange is a constant joy to be around and I'm so thankful she fits our workshops into her hustling schedule as she's pretty darn busy running her own business!

Now in her 3rd year, Jen is the friendly face behind so many Hard Scrabble Blooms deliveries.

Her flower philosophy is refreshingly simple: "Whatever's in season and smells amazing." (Her florist friend jokes that she smells flowers with her whole face — she loves it that much.)

Best part of the job? Showing up with flowers for people who weren't expecting them, and watching regulars light up every time.

Fun fact: Snap dragons, when you pinch the top off they will stand up and not flop over.

Naomi joined the crew in May and quickly became the team's unofficial keeper of good vibes.

Her favourite flowers to work with - "The ones that look like they came out of a Dr. Seuss book - ageratum, Craspedia, Gomphrena."

Fun fact: she raises meat rabbits on her own hobby farm down the road.

The icing on the cake? She's brought so much fun to the farm this year and embraces all the dreams I have.
