Well family and friends …..

Today is meat bird processing day.
30 chickens to process to carry us over winter.
There is nothing more satisfying than watching every part of the process from chick to processing and then to the freezer.
We know what these birds have eaten and the care that’s been taken of them.
Thank you to Landry Bros in Louisdale and Holna farms in Antigonish and the Rankin’s in St Peter’s for all their help

Our little homestead is doing great. ❤️❤️❤️

Last year we planted two semi dwarf cherry trees with hopes they will produce cherries in the next few years.
On Tuesday I planted one semi dwarf honey crisp apple tree and have a second one to plant hopefully tonight or this weekend.

Second pic is the one Honey Crisp apple tree I planted.

The goal is to eventually be able to harvest some fruit to keep over winter. Making sure our family can always have food at hand in good times and in bad.

The best time to have planted these would have been 4 or 5 years ago. The second best time to plant them is now.

Good day everyone ……
Here’s what’s been happening at the little homestead the last month or so

Built a cover for our heat pump

With our heavy rains our garden water tote is full

Our laying hens are enjoying the breeze and sunny days.

Our meat birds…. Well they just eat, drink and p**p. lol

Our garden, while small is doing great. (Next we’re hoping to add a green house)

And while not yet producing. Our cherry trees are looking amazing.

The flower stand will be open on Saturday only this week.
And on Sunday you will find me with flowers and fairies at the Mabou Farmers Market. I hope to see you 🧚🏻🌸🤗
