LITTLE EXPLORERS 🌿🌸

It's the every day magic that makes life with littles so fulfilling!

Their tiny but mighty imaginations inspire me everyday, from exploring flower garden jungles to dreaming our lawn furniture into tractors - these sweet boys of mine are beyond creative!

In the busy of everyday, don't forget to stop and smell (& explore) the flowers!

BACKYARD HANGS 🌿🌳

Who says you have to leave home to picnic? It's not often a day goes by where we don't lay a blanket out & kick back in the backyard!

An old quilt, a shady spot & a couple good books are all my boys & I need for a perfect backyard hang!

Pizza picnic lunches are also a common occurrence around our pizza farm - no surprise there!

FARM CRAWL 🌿🍎🐄

We don't tend to leave the farm often, but when we do we typically find ourselves at... other farms!

This Sunday we snuck away for a family farm crawl and had a blast exploring all of the local farm experiences!

Our farm crawl stops:

🐄 Summit Station Dairy, in Lynden, for delicious local milk & cheese curds!
🌽 Shearlea Acres Farm Market, in Lynden, for local produce & plants, we finally secured a citronella plant for our backyard - yay!
🍎 Brantwood Farms, in Paris, for family fun at their sunflower festival. The boys top picks were the peddle tractors, tractor rides & play structures. My favorite were the endless flower fields!
🍕 Willibald Farm Distillery & Brewery, in Ayr, for pizza lunch and cold farm crafted drinks!
🐐 The Perth Farmhouse, in New Hamburg, for meet & greet with their goats & flights of cider/wine! The boys especially liked the vintage tractors & sandbox!

Exploring other farms in our backyard is such an amazing way to spend a family day and we encourage you to follow along our farm crawl if you have the chance!

TEAM WORK MAKES THE FARM DREAM WORK 🌾🚜🤝

Here at Grassroots Farm we are fortunate to farm alongside our extended family whose fields neighbor ours!

More hands (& tractors) make lighter work & having three trouble shooters for inevitable breakdowns is definitely a lifesaver!

We love this family farming life and are so grateful for our family unit!

Our sweet as pie farm boys are loving their new mud kitchen!

Crafted from scrap wood & upcycled materials, these boys are busy busy cooking their hearts out!

Fresh air & creativity are the mottos for farm kid summer here at Grassroots Farm!

GRASSROOTS FIELD CREW 🚜🌿🌽

Our boys are a well seasoned field crew at this point, currently keeping Dad company during corn planting!

Bobbing along for hours as Blair & Roger drive around in endless loops cultivating, planting & harvesting, these boys are tractor obsessed!

When they aren't on board tractors, they seem to always have a toy tractor within reach, tightly grasped in their little hands or right along with them in the sandbox!

Textbook future farmers!

HAVE YOU MET MISTY 🐎🌿

Misty is our beautiful horse, protector & pal here at Grassroots Farm!

She lives the good life grazing in pastures all season with her friends the sheep & alpaca. Together they make quite a sweet clan and love meeting new people when they come to visit the farm!

Make sure you wave hello to Misty & our other farm animals on your next trip out to the farm store or pizzeria!

MOTHERS OF GRASSROOTS FARM 🌿🤱

Today & everyday we celebrate Mother's and all they do for our families!

This Sunday is just another opportunity to honour your Mum!

Whether with brightly colored blooms, breakfast in bed, a homemade card or farm store goodies, we hope celebrations are enjoyed by all!

ALL HANDS ON DECK 👐🌿🪏

As the days continue to warm up, with the soil not far behind it, it's time for Spring clean up on the farm!

Many hands make light work, even little ones eager to help!

Whatever task is on the docket, completing it as a family is so much more enjoyable! It may take longer sometimes but it's so worth it & really what's the hurry? It's so fun to include the boys in whatever it is we are up to & continually watch them rise to the challenge.

BOYS BOYS BOYS 🛻🚚🏗️

Our boys are living their best lives here on the farm with every construction vehicle in our story books out the window almost daily!

As we finish up the last of our new pizzeria construction we welcome the last of the cranes, concrete mixers, dump trucks & diggers!

Over the last few seasons, our boys have been eating plenty of meals in their highchairs pointing out our front window to watch the trucks roll by, it's been so much fun for everyone!

Grateful for farm this life & for these sweet boys!
