GRASSROOTS FIELD CREW 🚜🌿🌽

Our boys are a well seasoned field crew at this point, currently keeping Dad company during corn planting!

Bobbing along for hours as Blair & Roger drive around in endless loops cultivating, planting & harvesting, these boys are tractor obsessed!

When they aren't on board tractors, they seem to always have a toy tractor within reach, tightly grasped in their little hands or right along with them in the sandbox!

Textbook future farmers!

Misty is our beautiful horse, protector & pal here at Grassroots Farm!

She lives the good life grazing in pastures all season with her friends the sheep & alpaca. Together they make quite a sweet clan and love meeting new people when they come to visit the farm!

Make sure you wave hello to Misty & our other farm animals on your next trip out to the farm store or pizzeria!

Today & everyday we celebrate Mother's and all they do for our families!

This Sunday is just another opportunity to honour your Mum!

Whether with brightly colored blooms, breakfast in bed, a homemade card or farm store goodies, we hope celebrations are enjoyed by all!

As the days continue to warm up, with the soil not far behind it, it's time for Spring clean up on the farm!

Many hands make light work, even little ones eager to help!

Whatever task is on the docket, completing it as a family is so much more enjoyable! It may take longer sometimes but it's so worth it & really what's the hurry? It's so fun to include the boys in whatever it is we are up to & continually watch them rise to the challenge.

BOYS BOYS BOYS 🛻🚚🏗️

Our boys are living their best lives here on the farm with every construction vehicle in our story books out the window almost daily!

As we finish up the last of our new pizzeria construction we welcome the last of the cranes, concrete mixers, dump trucks & diggers!

Over the last few seasons, our boys have been eating plenty of meals in their highchairs pointing out our front window to watch the trucks roll by, it's been so much fun for everyone!

Grateful for farm this life & for these sweet boys!

SWOONING OVER SPRING 🌼☀️

The return of the warm sunshine, growing grass & blooming flowers has us swooning here on the farm!

Fresh sunny blooms filling my camera roll and kids tiny hands feels so amazing after such a long dark winter! The warm wind blowing through our hair & full wash line has us feeling beyond grateful for the new season ahead!

With the official seasonal bunting swap to Spring's sunshine yellow in our kitchen, we are feeling all the new season vibes!

SWEET BABY BOY 👶🌿🌸

We are soaking up the newborn snuggles and beginning to find our rhythm as a new family of five!

From here on out we are on zone defense with three little boys & can't wait for all the adventures to come!

HERO LOST & NEW LIFE WELCOMED 🌿👶🤍

​Life has a way of showing us its full circle all at once. In the last few weeks, our family experienced the loss of a hero & the birth of our new baby within just days of each other.

​We are heartbroken to share the passing of Ken, Courtney's Father. He was the steady hand and the warm smile often found behind the scenes of our pizzeria & farm. You might recognize Ken from his days spent cutting pizzas at our farm pizzeria or from around our community here in Lucknow. We will miss him more than words can say.

​In the truest spirit of spring & new beginnings, we are overjoyed to welcome the newest member of our family: Thomas. He has arrived with a spirit that has brought a much-needed light to our home in this difficult time.

We've been a bit quiet on socials & wanted to share that we are taking a little time to focus on family, grieve, and snuggle our newest addition. Thank you for your continued love, patience, and support as we navigate this bittersweet season.

NEW IN THE FARM STORE 🥩🧺🍕

While we patiently await our newest family member to make their arrival, we decided why not keep busy by redesigning the farm store... nothing like keeping busy!

If you haven't had a chance to stop into the farm store recently, you'll be excited to know we've upgraded our farm store fridge and shelving section! With more capacity, we are excitedly searching for new & exciting local groceries and goodies to add to our offerings!

Some of the new products we are excited to newly offer include:
- freshly frozen basil pesto, made in our farm kitchen with organic and locally sourced ingredients
- chicken from local butcher Greens Meat Market in Lucknow/Wingham, boneless skinless breasts & thighs available frozen
- organic sourdough pasta, a staple in our house!
- Grassroots Woodfired Pizza merch, designed by us and made with high quality fabrics & materials

If you have any other products you are wishing you'd like to see in the fridge, freezer or on the shelves of the farm store please let us know, we'd love your input!

NEW TRADITIONS 🥞🫐☀️

Around here we make A LOT of pancakes, my boys are HUGE fans and I've tried every recipe under the sun. Sourdough starter, banana, almond flour, you name it!

Today we tried a new recipe, a dutch baby, and I am confident it might replace all others due to it's simplicity mainly! I had seen them online but was skeptical they would be difficult to achieve due to their souffle like rise, man was I mistaken!

This blender recipe was fun & simple to make, with toddler hands helping! Simply blend, rest & pour into prepared cast iron pan to cook in the oven. No standing over the stove & burning pancakes if I get called away for a minute or two!

I made some simple blueberry/raspberry sauce with frozen homegrown fruit to top and it too was simple & delicious!

Finding new traditions is always special especially obmes my baby boys enjoy taking part in!
