Day 5 of our booth in the Canadian Pavilion at SIAL Paris has wrapped up! It’s the largest food show in the world, and where we meet many of our European customers. To get a feel for the number of people attending, the third photo shows the crowd leaving the buildings at the end of a typical day.

Our cranberry u-pick will open this Thursday, Oct. 8, 10am-4pm. Due to staffing issues, we will only be open 2 days per week this year. Those dates are tentatively Thursday and Friday Oct. 8 and 9; Thursday and Saturday, Oct. 15 and 17; Thursday and Saturday Oct. 22 and 24. If one of these dates is forecast to be rainy we will substitute a different day. Please watch our socials for updates. $2/lb, Cash Only

This Barley Pilaf is one of our go-to potluck dishes. It’s easy to make, easy to transport and always a hit on the table.

1 bag pearl barley
1½ cups Terra Beata Low Sugar Dried Cranberries
1½ cups finely chopped kale
Your favourite vinaigrette, or use the recipe below
1 cup Holmestead Cheese Sales Inc. feta, crumbled

Cook the barley according to the directions on the bag. Stir in the dried cranberries and chopped kale, then mix in just enough vinaigrette to make everything shiny. Top with crumbled feta.

Vinaigrette:

1 cup oil
⅓ cup c***r vinegar
1 tbsp honey
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp grainy mustard
2 tbsp any fresh chopped herbs

Mix all ingredients together. Makes more than you'll need for the pilaf, so store extra in the fridge.
