Summers tend to fly by here at PMB! Here’s a sneak at some new animals that arrived this summer! We welcomed a grouping of Registered Painted Dessert sheep to further expand our blood lines. PDSS are very similar to our ABB’s and can be bred together. Riot (our black and white ram) was sired from a ram that was dual registered with the PDSS & Trophy Horn Association and just reached gold start status this year so we are super excited to see our Riot fill out and see what he can produce!

A little family fun throwback! Neil’s mom grew up on a farm where her dad raised sheep. Here she is 68 years later still feeding sheep - just in a different yard! Much love to you mom/grandma/great grandma, we loved getting to see the smile our Spot brought to you. So glad she was able to bring back such fond memories. We hope our kids/grandkids get to experience that too some day ❤️❤️

This is the biggest year of babies we’ve had yet! Theres 9 Blackbelly babies on the ground so far, we can’t wait to see what our final number for all our babies turns out to be! Right now we are counting 23 lambs all together and 2 kids but still many more mommas to go!

We love all our sheep and are so glad shearing went so went so smoothly this year! But definitely still blessed with not having to do it with our AB’s makes it a little easier to only have to do half the sheep at the farm!

One of the main concerns we hear from potential shepherds is how to get your sheep sheared. The Barbados Blackbelly and American Blackbelly breeds are hair sheep and never need to be sheared at all. In this photo, Judy has her winter coat. As the weather warms, this fuzzy coat will naturally shed, leaving a nice, smooth, shiny and cool summer coat without any work by the Shepherd. (The woolly sheep behind her will require a shearer.)
