We’ve got secure coops, automatic doors that open and close at dusk and dawn…

🐣 Fresh hatch this morning!

These Easter Egger chicks are SO dangerously cute that I am currently questioning all my life choices… like selling them 😅

They DO need new homes though… because husbands… and yard space… and mostly husbands… who keep reminding me this is a business 🙄

A little miracle! 💛

This baby hatched 3 days late, on day 24, and got shrink-wrapped. It was clear it needed an assist - thankfully, years of precise tweezer work (shoutout to my 90s eyebrows 😅) came in handy.

I'm thrilled to report that my intervention was a success. This dude is eating, drinking, and zooming around like nothing dramatic ever happened.

🐣 Plot twist… 😳

After 38 perfect little fluffballs hatched just fine, things got… weird.

Looked into the incubator to see a tiny leg just kicking out of an egg like something straight out of Sid’s creations from Toy Story 😂 (pretty sure that’s his name lol).

This little one decided to hatch completely backwards - just a leg sticking out and a whole lot of confusion. I stepped in to assist, and happy to report… they’re doing just fine! 💛

Hatching is usually smooth, but every now and then, nature throws you a curveball. Always a reminder to keep a close eye and trust your instincts when something looks off.

But after candling right before lockdown, I’m feeling VERY confident saying these guys all have heartbeats, movement… and a reasonable amount of determination to escape 🐣

Day 18 is here. Big Mama is locked down, humidity is up, and I can only assume the fluff nuggets are enjoying their little egg sauna.

5 of our little chicks hatched early! 🐣
Which feels like a strong preview of their personalities already.

I’m choosing to believe they were excited to meet me…
…but it’s probably just their first act of rebellion.

And although I probably shouldn’t advertise it after everything she put me through, the notorious Barb is the mother of at least three of them, so this 'we live by our own rules' definitely tracks. 😅
