š§Ŗ More Good News for New Brunswick AgricultureāOur Provincial Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory Is Staying Open! š
Our farming community is extremely relieved to learn that the Provincial Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory will remain open and continue serving New Brunswick.
The laboratory is an essential part of our provinceās animal-health system. It provides timely diagnostic testing to veterinarians and livestock producers, supports disease surveillance and outbreak response, and helps protect animal health, public health and food security.
Our laboratory processes thousands of tests each year and has specialized capabilities that benefit the entire region. It is ISO-accredited and is the only laboratory in the Maritimes performing avian influenza testing. Its work supports livestock producers, poultry operations, veterinarians, animal-welfare organizations and government disease-control programs.
Keeping the laboratory open also preserves the vital connection between veterinarians in the field and the professionals performing diagnostic testing. A sample collected on a New Brunswick farm can continue to be tested here, allowing veterinarians and producers to receive the information needed to make timely treatment, herd-health and biosecurity decisions.
This is not merely about keeping a building open. It is about preserving the skilled professionals, specialized equipment, institutional knowledge and diagnostic capacity that New Brunswick has spent decades developing.
The continued operation of our diagnostic laboratory, together with ongoing livestock veterinary services, is a major victory for New Brunswick agriculture. It protects our animals, supports our farms and strengthens the provinceās ability to identify and respond to animal diseases before they become larger emergencies.
