Prairie North Co-op partnered with the St. Brieux Lake Lenore Rivals Senior Hockey Team last month to support fundraising efforts for the St. Brieux Rink Dressing Room Project and Emma’s Army. 175 tickets were sold and the team was successful in raising over $20,000 to significantly impact both projects.

As part of the partnership, Prairie North Co-op donated more than $5,000 worth of steaks, potatoes, salads, garlic toast, bar mix, and other supplies. Co-op team members also volunteered their time to prepare and grill 185 New York Striploins, and 185 potatoes using our new Community Fundraising BBQ.

The event brought together great food, a meaningful cause and plenty of smiles. We extend our thanks to the Rivals team for their hard work in planning and hosting this successful community event. We look forward to partnering with you again in the future.

Prairie North Co-op was pleased to present Sophie Dancey with a $500 contribution towards her mural commission through our long-standing partnership with the Back Alley Tour. We can't wait to see her vision come to life at Pederson Family Pharmacy.

Happy Workiversary! . . . please join us in congratulating Lana Longman on 25 years!

Lana began her Co-op career in 2001 as a clerk at the Kelvington gas bar (previously service centre). Since then, she has held several roles across the organization, including accounts payable and later file maintenance supporting lumber, petroleum, and bulk oil. In 2021, she was promoted to Assistant Petroleum Manager, where she oversees bulk petroleum and Co-op Cardlocks throughout our trading area.

Lana says the best part of her job is the trusted relationships she has built with customers and the strong team she works alongside every day. Outside of work, you'll often find her cheering on her family at the racetrack during the summer, supporting chuckwagon, chariot, and barrel racing events. When winter arrives, she trades the track for the rink, spending countless hours in the stands both at home and on the road, taking in as many hockey games as possible.

Prairie North Co-op appreciates her care and attention to her role as leader, team member and her role on our Brand Committee. Her major contributions to planning this year’s Christmas Party (and many others before) have not gone unnoticed.

Thank you, Lana, for 25 years of dedication, commitment, and the many contributions you have made throughout your Co-op career. Congratulations on this incredible milestone!

Mark your calendars, Fuel Good Day is September 15, 2026!

We are celebrating 10 years of fueling good and supporting local groups in our communities.

This Fuel Good Day, 10¢ of every litre of fuel sold, $1 of every Co-operative Coffee and Big Cool sold, 5¢ of every pound of propane sold and 100% of our BBQ proceeds will be split between local seniors centres in Archerwill, Kelvington, Melfort, Naicam, St. Brieux and Spalding.

Our Melfort gas bar will also donate $2 from every Extreme Car Wash sold on Fuel Good Day.

It’s game day! We have a $50 Co-op g!ft card for the person who can tell us, in our post featuring our support of the chariot and chuckwagon competitors at the Melfort Fair, who is quoted regarding our impact? A g!ft card recipient will be selected at random from all the correct responses on our page at the end of the game. Only those comments posted between the starting kick-off and end of the game will qualify. As a Co-op we are a different kind of business. We are creating community by giving back. Every year, Prairie North Co-op partners with feed distributors to help provide nutrition for all chariot and chuckwagon competitors at the Melfort Fair. The program was originally introduced by Melfort Home Centre Manager Curtis Holmes and Eastern Professional Chariot & Chuckwagon Association. (EPCCA) member Dustin Arcand.

This year, Prairie North Co-op partnered with Trouw Nutrition Canada to provide 50 bags of grain and 22 bags of LipiGain Equine Supplement to competitors in Melfort. The top three chariot and chuckwagon finishers each day received additional LipiGain feed as honor prizes, made possible entirely through Prairie North Co-op’s donation. Feed prizes were also awarded to the weekend’s best-dressed in both categories.

Through the EPCCA’s partnership with FCL, members of the Melfort Home Centre team were also treated to a meet-and-greet and supper with competitors.
When asked about the impact of Prairie North Co-op’s support, EPCCA President Shane Hue said, “Feed nutrition is so important. These horses are athletes and they need quality fuel to perform at their best.”

Arcand added that many competitors raced in Preeceville before travelling directly to Nipawin and then Melfort. “When you’re on the road that long, you run out of the essentials, so there is an especially high appreciation for the feed top-up.”
Melfort hosts the second-largest show of the summer within the EPCCA circuit.

Prairie North Co-op’s support extends beyond sponsorship, helping ensure competitors and their horses have the resources they need to stay competitive throughout a demanding season. We are looking forward to next year’s partnership.

Happy Workiversary! . . . please join us in congratulating Aida Mina on 15 years!

Aida has been a valued member of the Melfort food store bakery since 2011.She brings a welcoming attitude and strong work ethic to every shift.

What she enjoys most about working for Prairie North Co-op is the people she works with and the customers. A great Co-op day is when she gets to create positive experiences for customers and work with a supportive team. She added that building relationships with her customers and working alongside great co-workers makes every work day enjoyable and rewarding.

Aida's favourite product recommendation is the Co-op Gold Seasoned Chicken Wings with Honey Dill Sauce because they're easy to prepare, high in protein, and delicious for any occasion.
