One of the sweetest part of brooding with silkies.

Mom raised her babies, 6 silkies for us and 3 seramas for the Upper Farm, till about 7 weeks. A good age that they are totally integrated, members of the flock. However, there are always Aunts when it comes to silkies. So the main Aunt has, for the last 2+ weeks taken over duties and spends all day and night with them. She'll likely take over for another month and then they will be "on their own" as full members of the flock. It is remarkable brooding with moms and the way chicks are integrated. Much more so with silkies. The OEs would have called it quits at 7 weeks...no aunts there😅🤣🤣

Hello Folks!! Give us a name time!!

Two years ago we asked you to help us pick a name for our new Roo, Edgar, was the name we chose! Our older rooster, Larry, passed away this year at the age of 5. So this year, we chose a new boy to be in the Oliver Egger coop with Edgar. He is a 16 week old OE hatched from a Black Copper Maran egg and raised from a day old in the coop with the flock. Help us pick a name! Give us your suggestions!!
