Exciting news - Laba Garlic Spread is now available! This garlic spread is lightly preserved with organic apple cider vinegar and a sprinkle of salt. It's extremely flavourful with a concentrated garlic flavour that's a bit tangy and with a hint of the spiciness you'd expect from raw garlic. The gorgeous green colour comes from molecules in the cloves breaking down into something that is similar to chlorophyll, the component in plants that allows them to break down sunlight. Add a spoonful to your recipes or sauces, slather it on toast, or use it to save time peeling and chopping 🧄

$6 for 125 mL
$9 for 250 mL
$14 for 500 mL (size shown in picture)

Thanks so much everyone for all the support! The previous posts have been updated with the items that are now sold out 🥰

Hi everyone, it's been quite a year! I decided stay quiet on social media, and instead make seasonal or annual posts summarizing what's available for sale (please share to help the algorithm if you're inclined 😘). After a year "off" of farming, I spent this past summer adjusting my expectations of what I can accomplish with my changing capacity. I am very excited about plans for next year with expansion that matches my abilities and the needs of the community 🤲
DM to place your orders! Please expect up to 2 business days for confirmation. Please note that domestic shipping usually costs $25-$35 depending on size and location.

NOW AVAILABLE:
-------
🫖 Calming blend: Sliding scale $15-25 for 30g bag
This year's blend has shifted slightly (only a few bags left with rose petals). This blend gently soothes worried minds, upset tummies, and cold/flu/covid symptoms. It contains mints and sage, mullein, horsetail, pineappleweed (local chammomile), milky oats + oatstraw, lavender and calendula. If you're looking for menstrual cramp relief or fever reduction, I can also add yarrow.

🐻 Sleepy tea: Sliding scale $15-25 for 30g bag
Sleepy tea is the calming blend, plus specialty additions tailored to your needs including valerian, hops, and extra pineappleweed. If you're looking for menstrual cramp relief or fever reduction, I can also add yarrow.

🍃 Bulk herbs: Sliding scale $20-30 per bag, with variable weights
🌾Milky oats + straw
🌼Yarrow
🍀Mullein leaf
🐇Hops
🍄 Chaga (free as always, + shipping)

🧄 Garlic: This year, with climate change leek moth threatened to decimate my garlic crop. Due to this, I am not selling bulbs this year. This powerful medicine is available in loose cloves, or in fridge-stable jars preserved with organic apple cider vinegar and a bit of salt. This preserve is lightly probiotic, ready and delicious to be spread on toast or added to your cooking.
SOLD OUT! $8 per pound for loose cloves (only 8 lbs left!)
$6 per 125 mL chopped garlic spread
$9 per 250 mL chopped garlic spread
$14 per 500 mL chopped garlic spread

🍅 This year's tomato preserve is Spicy Maple Apple Pear with lots of garlic! Along with Gander&Yarrow tomatoes, the fruits came from Verger Belliveau down the road, and the maple from Ella and Cam's in Sackville. Use this anywhere you'd put ketchup or bbq sauce 😋
$4-6 sliding scale 125 mL
$7-9 sliding scale for 250 mL

🧴Salve and anointing oil: This season's blend is Cedar, Fir and Rosemary. The anointing oil (also great for hair!) is in a base of organic coconut, olive, apricot, and rosehip seed oil. The salve is olive, coconut, apricot oils plus local beeswax, and is fantastic for dry hands or cracked heels.
$15-25 sliding scale for 125 mL beeswax salve (only 4 left!)
SOLD OUT $25-35 sliding scale for 125 mL dropper bottle (only 2 left!)

EGG-CITING ANNOUNCEMENT:

Leaning into the cooler weather after a bountiful harvest this year. I have a new offering for the first time: milky oats!

Milky oats are not used for oat milk or oatmeal despite the name! Milky oats are the oat tops harvested in an early (milky) stage. They are great for teas or tinctures and are often used to soothe anxiety and stress.

I also have my usual teas including:
•Toasted dandelion root (only 3 orders available)

•Calming blend good for the mind, tummy and soothing sore throat, ingredients include: mints, mullein, rose, lavender, horsetail, milky oats and h**p nettle

•Superstrength sleepy teas: the calming blend plus hops, valerian and yarrow (check with pharmacist if you are on prescriptions that could interact with these ingredients!)

All teas and milky oats sold by the bag: sliding scale 10-20$ per bag❤️

The last two photos shows full bags on a scale with milky oats 60g and tea 45g

Please message for full ingredients lists and to check about allergens!

Also I no longer have the capacity for egg orders but will be sharing more offerings in new posts❤️

Fascinating data from National Farmers Union / L'Union nationale des fermiers showing the real cause of rising food costs, as well as clear data showing how farmers aren’t getting raises along with inflation. Farmers deserve better and so does anyone who eats!

The main cause of rising food prices is the small bloc of powerful companies who control Canada’s food processing and retail industries

We love the Station8 Community Fridge & Food Initiatives housed at the Greater Dorchester Moving Forward Co-op! Every community needs one - self serve, people add what they have extra and take what they need. Local grocery stores are also donating excess foods that might otherwise be wasted, plus extras to make sure the shelves are well stocked. If you’d like to try some duck eggs, there are some 6 packs and a 12 pack! Look for the cute labels this year’s farm intern made 😍

*cooking tips*
These eggs are farm fresh - if you want to hardboil them, let them sit in the fridge for a week first or you’ll have a dickens of a time peeling them. They’re incredible in baking! They cook differently than chicken eggs, so if you like ’em sunny or scrambled, remember low-n-slow or they might get a bit rubbery. Higher in protein, lower in cholesterol and with a yolk twice the size of chicken eggs 🤤

Now that the gals are in peak laying season, you can also request trades if you haven’t got the cash for eggs. Message the farm to arrange pickup or delivery 🙂

Infused hair oil, salves, and serums

After weeks of gently infusing in the sun, this Rosemary Evergreen hair oil has a deep green colour and deeply calming scent. Growing rosemary has been a challenging and honestly kind of thrilling journey into cold-stratification, DIY bottom-heat, and cutting propagation. ראָוזמערי is an important and longstanding herb in my Ashkenazic history as an herb, but also as a smoke cleanser/incense, for protection. It is invigorating for the scalp and smells amazing, too! The Evergreen piece of this infusion is a mixture of balsam fir and cedar - both of which are also great smoke cleansers in many traditions - with a bit of pine and spruce mixed in. The scents altogether are refreshing, calming, and make me want to take deep breaths. Use the dropper along parted hair to massage into the scalp, or add it to your palms to work into split ends or dye-treated hair.
Oil base: Certified organic Apricot kernel, Coconut, Olive, and a touch of Rosehip. It may become slightly solid in colder rooms but melt with body heat or in warm spots.
------
Compared to the deep green, this warmly coloured Calendula Rosehip face serum is gentle and deeply enriching for the skin. The calendula was grown by my mom! The colours came out beautifully. Calendula soothes irritation, and the Rosehip oil base moisturizes with a light scent.
Oil base: Certified organic Rosehip, Apricot kernel, Coconut, Olive, and Shea
------
This Lavender Evergreen beeswax salve smells great and is deeply moisturizing for callouses, dry hands, and as a lip balm. I keep one by my kitchen sink and use it multiple times a day! It's infused with lavender and a mixture of fir, pine, and cedar.
Oil base: Certified organic Coconut, Apricot kernel, Olive, Shea, and local beeswax

Trans day of visibility (today!) is coming at a time of so much strategic hate against our community, especially our youth. Trans people don’t need to be magic or hero’s or the most amazing sparkly thing to deserve basic human rights and legal protection. This is a day of celebration in the fact that we are still here despite the systems trying to erase us through attempts to ban our community, bodies, and care. If you are an ally, speak up when we can’t, fight back when we are too tired, and listen to what the q***r people in your life need. Instead of being terrified for us when we come out or calling us “brave” all the time, do the work to create a supportive place for us to be our full selves in our most basic moments. Sometimes I’m out here growing flowers and supporting other farmers, but a lot of the time I’m just eating popcorn in my truck listening to
