Getting everyone organized for winter has been a work in progress this year but I think we are in the final stretch. Bruce has these 4 frame nucs looking fantastic. No extra feed needed until they are moved home and the winter fondant goes one.

Another productive day! Some good friends helped me put on another round of feed this morning. So thankful!

In the honey house this afternoon! I’m getting there! All the boxes are in the trailer and I’m hoping to be done in a few days. Forcing myself not to leave these 10 frame boxes until the end! Not my fave, I like the 8/9 framers but boy can I make a mess with those heavy, juicy frames.

Today I did what I like doing best, I spent time with Bruce, having a rest day.
Tonight’s adventure. Cleaning out the wax spinner, refining beeswax cappings into beautiful beeswax blocks. These will become candles for the upcoming sales.

Tomorrow it’s back to feeding bees and extracting.

It’s been a bit since I’ve worked in the extracting trailer, it’s been Bruce’s domain for a couple of years but here I am, hoping to finish up the extracting in the next week! I love these big juicy frames of honey. The smell in here is amazing. I’ve only dropped the uncapping knife into the maxant spinner once….. so far 😁

Beautiful morning to feed some bees! Let’s get at it!

A good friend gave me some King apples off her dad’s tree (my gran coveted King apples) so I thought of them both while I made this upside down apple cake recipe with our honey and these beautiful King apples. The recipe is from a very informative little cookbook from the Vermont Beekeepers.

I’m imagining using lemon ginger honey in my next attempt.
