Baby chick report - already NOT fluffy!

At a week old, these guys have lost their fluff and start to grow in their feathers - which means they get to go outside and enjoy the grass!

Next week we pick up another 100 little fluffs, and once you see them side by side you’ll agree they don’t stay cute for long.

A little purple is showing up!

After watching the berries show up, the haskaps are starting to turn. Warm sunshine and a few more hot days will have more of them blushing purple, but don’t let the colour fool you just yet - we are still a bit away from picking!

Once they turn purple, they still need a few days to fully ripen and develop that sweet-tart flavour you love.

For now, we’re enjoying the first signs that harvest season is getting closer.

Never tried a haskap berry?

Imagine a blueberry and a raspberry had a baby, then added a little zing from a black currant. Haskaps are sweet, tangy, packed with flavour, and one of the first berries ready to harvest each season. Last year, our season started June 18th - which mean’s we are SO close to the first berries of the season!

We are one of the few growers in the area, so make sure you keep your eyes on our posts if you want to get your hands on some of these guys!

It’s officially the cutest day at Tiny Acres!

100 little fluffy chicks came to the brooder this morning. We will take good care of them over the summer, giving them fresh grass everyday.

Don’t get too attached. These guys are the meat birds, just fluffy guests for the summer time ☀️

The Haskap leaves and berries are green! But that means we have something to look forward to.

Last year's season started on June 18, and seeing the bushes fill out reminds us just how close we are to another sweet season.

Who's counting with us?

From flowers to fruit, the haskaps are officially starting to show up.

Just a couple little berries for now, but this is when things start getting exciting around the farm. A good bloom, a little sunshine, and these bushes will be loaded before we know it.

Everyone gets excited about the tulips this time of year, but the haskaps are quietly doing their thing too.

One of the first crops ready on the farm, and they’re already getting a head start for June.

Can’t wait for fresh? We’ve got frozen haskaps (and blueberries!) available now.
