Hello Blueberry friends, That's it! We are now closed for the season.

Thank you to everyone who came out this year. Whether you came to pick a few for your table, stock your freezer, catch up with friends, continue the tradition with family or enjoy the quiet of our farm we are always happy to share our blueberry place.

We are always excited to see you all each season and catch up. We wonder about those we didn't see this year and try to imagine what part of life's web has entangled you. Summers are short and busy, so fitting everything in isn't always possible.

Our season would not be complete without hearing the amazement of those finding us for the first time - just like we experienced when we happened upon the tree covered laneway that led to this hidden gem.

We wish you all the best for the coming year....until we see you again.

Last Days of Blueberry Picking

Hello everyone, Another rainy day...

We are entering the last few day of blueberry picking. There are still plenty of berries and we expect there will be to the very last day. Our late varieties, Blue Gold and Blue Crop, should provide plenty of berries to finish our season.

We are extending our season by 3 days: our last day will be Wednesday August 12th.

Our hours for the final days will not change, but here they are once again:

Thursday 8am to 7pm
Friday 8am to 4pm
Saturday 8am to 4pm
Sunday 9am to 4pm
Monday 8am to 4pm
Tuesday 8am to 7pm
Wednesday 8am to 4pm

Remember we now offer electronic payment by e-transfer.

Hope to see you out for a final pick or for the first time.

BLUE GOLD!

This is the time some of you have been waiting for: we will begin picking the Blue Gold variety of blueberries tomorrow. So come early and often!

We are still picking all other varieties. Picking is still good.

We are open every day this weekend including the holiday Monday.

Hello blueberry friends, We are beginning our second week of picking and all varieties remain plentiful (we have not started to pick our late variety Blue Gold). We have started to alternate fields to offer the best picking each day.

Remember we are open to 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday.

We guarantee to be open until Sunday August 9th, after this date it will be day by day - we will send out an update as this date approaches.

The Blueberry Place
Hello fellow Blueberry Enthusiasts,
I think we are ready to go......Monday July 20th will be opening day. We will have berries for the next three weeks guaranteed.

The crop is variable this year: the far field is definitely lighter whereas in the near field most varieties have a good crop. As always there is plenty for everyone. The heat has played tricks this year forcing us to increase irrigation and the plants have responded by ripening their fruits a little earlier than expected.
As we like to say 'it's all good' and you will continue to be delighted by our sweet, tasty berries in the perfect picking spot.

NEW THIS YEAR!!! We are re-visiting longer hours for two nights this season: we will be openTuesday and Thursday from 8am to 7pm.

Don't hesitate to call for crop information (picking conditions, variety availability, rain/picked-out closure). I will up-date my voice message daily (I promise)! If you really want to speak with us, call in the morning between 7am and-8am or after 7pm in the evening.

THE BASICS

Picking Reminders
The berries ripen progressively on a cluster, often many berries will appear blue but only the plumpest 1 or 2 berries are ready to harvest at a time, the others if picked will be pinkish at the stem end and upon tasting will not be as sweet or flavourful. Most varieties will yield to a gentle wiggle if ripe while those that are not will need pulling. Trust me - it will make all the difference to your enjoyment at home!

We are no longer certified, but we still continue to follow and are committed to organic and regenerative practices .

Directions

Our location is 1337 Ron Jones Rd, Midland

From Midland: 4.5 km South of Wyebridge on Hwy 93, take Ebenezer Side Rd, east to Ron Jones Rd. Turn right and drive 3 km to Farm entrance.

From Barrie: Hwy 400 North of Barrie to Hwy 93 to Waverley, turn right on Vasey Rd. Travel 2 km to Wood Rd. Turn left and travel 2 km, turn right on McMann sideroad, travel 0.5 km. Turn right on Ron Jones Rd to Farm entrance.

From Orillia: Follow Hwy 12 to Coldwater. West (left) on County Rd 23 (Vasey Rd) for approx 10 km to Old Fort Rd. Right on Old Fort Rd and travel approx. 2 km, turn left on Hogg Valley Rd, travel 1 km. Turn left on Ron Jones Rd to Farm entrance.

Hello Blueberry friends, Many of you are already thinking about blueberries this summer: people are starting to call, email and connect on Facebook.

Just the basics for now....We don't expect to be open before July 20th. The plants didn't reach full bloom until late May and I don't think the extreme heat will ripen the berries earlier - perhaps only stress the plants to shut down until it is over. The berries have sized up nicely but are still completely green. It is a good crop.

The price will remain the same as last year ($3.90/lb).

I've enjoyed picking strawberries in the evening this year and so we are reconsidering a few nights with extended hours - details to follow.
