Take a more holistic approach when it comes to working with your horses.
Slow down & pay more attention to the subtle things your horse is trying to communicate to you.
Get curious.
Ask different questions.
Have more conversations & with more people.
Learn from more diverse mentors.
Don’t just get lessons when you’re riding, also take lessons/workshops/seek out information on: feed, nutrition & herbs, anatomy, nervous system regulation, injury prevention, rehab, etc.
✅ Learn from people who do different disciplines than you do
✅ Listen to horse podcasts, watch YouTube videos
✅ Read books (I highly recommend “Healing Horses Their Way” by Marijke van de Water)
Take notes, apply it at home, pay attention to your horse, write down new questions you now have from real feedback & insight you have from implementing that new knowledge with your horses.
It makes the world of a difference when you take a step back and start viewing your horse from their perspective, taking into account many more elements than just focusing on what you can do once you’re on their back.
