🍂🧡 Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Farmhouse 50! 🦃

Today, we’re feeling extra grateful for the opportunity to slow down, spend some quality time with our families, and soak in the beauty of fall here in our little valley town. 🍁

The changing colours, crisp autumn air, and beautiful scenery surrounding us are such lovely reminders to appreciate the simple things in life.

While we take a little time to enjoy the holiday, we’re also busy behind the scenes preparing to welcome you back for another week of delicious Farmhouse flavours! From comforting fall favourites and cozy beverages to freshly baked treats and delicious homemade meals, we’ve got plenty in store for you this week! 🥧☕️

Most of all, we’re feeling thankful for YOU! Our wonderful customers, friends, and community who continue to support our little business and make the Farmhouse such a special place. We are so grateful to be part of this community. ❤️

We’re currently hiring for both:

☕ Front of House — Servers & Baristas
👩‍🍳 Back of House — Cooking, Baking & Kitchen Staff

We’re a small team that works hard, has a lot of fun, and takes pride in creating great food, drinks and experiences for our customers. The days can be busy and fast-paced, but the work is rewarding — and we’re looking for people who will be the right fit for our Farmhouse family.

• Starting wages from $18–$22/hour, depending on position & experience
• Hourly tip wage on top of your regular wage

• Daytime hours between 8 AM–5 PM, Tuesday through Saturday

🍂 Hello, October! 🍂

We’re stepping into a brand-new month and soaking up all the beauty that fall brings to our little valley town. The colours are gorgeous, the weather has been absolutely incredible, and we’re taking in every bit of this beautiful season while it lasts. 🍁☀️

Of course, warm fall days and crisp mornings are also the perfect excuse for all things pumpkin spice, maple and cozy fall beverages. ☕️🎃

And speaking of pumpkin… our kitchen is officially in full pumpkin pie mode! 🥧 We’ll have our signature homemade pumpkin pies available daily this week while supplies last as we prepare for Thanksgiving weekend. If you have your heart set on one for your Thanksgiving table, we definitely recommend stopping in or giving us a call to have one set aside.

September was one of the most difficult months we’ve experienced in business, so we’re especially grateful to turn the page and welcome October with optimism. ❤️ We’re looking forward to filling the café with good food, familiar faces and the buzz of our community again.

🍂 A NEW WEEK, A FRESH OUTLOOK & A LITTLE FALL COMFORT! 🍂

As we head into another week at Farmhouse 50, we’re choosing to embrace it with optimism, positivity and grateful hearts. ❤️

The past few weeks have certainly come with their challenges as we continue to navigate changes, settle into new roles and find our footing. We’re taking things one day at a time, supporting one another and moving forward. We’re incredibly grateful for the continued kindness, patience and encouragement from our wonderful customers and community. You’ve made these difficult weeks a little brighter!

🧡 Tomorrow, Wednesday, September 30, we will be OPEN from 10 AM – 4 PM for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We recognize this important day as a time to honour the children who never returned home, residential school Survivors, their families and communities. We encourage everyone to take a moment to listen, learn and reflect.

🍁 As we welcome October, we’re looking forward to all the wonderful things that come with fall! Crisp mornings, colourful leaves, cozy beverages and the smell of freshly baked pastries and treats filling our café!

🥧 PUMPKIN PIE SEASON IS HERE! 🥧

We’ve officially started baking our signature pumpkin pies just in time for Thanksgiving! If you’ve got your heart set on having one on your Thanksgiving table, give us a call or stop by the café, and we’ll happily set one aside for you!

❤️ From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU! ❤️

As we reflect on our first week back, we are feeling incredibly grateful for the overwhelming love and support we’ve received from our wonderful community.

Your kind words, patience, understanding, and thoughtfulness have meant the world to all of us as we navigate this difficult time. We truly cannot thank you enough.

More than anything, having our café full again and hearing the familiar buzz of conversation, laughter, and friendship filling our space has helped bring a little light back into our world. ❤️

There is something incredibly comforting about seeing our Farmhouse filled with the people who make it so special. Thank you for showing up for us when we need you most.🫶

We’re back at it this week, and we’ve got some delicious things planned for all of you! We can’t wait to welcome you through our doors again.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, September 15th at 9:00am, we will reopen our doors and welcome our customers back to Farmhouse 50. ❤️

While we are looking forward to hearing the familiar hustle and bustle of the cafe again, there is also a lot of uncertainty surrounding what returning to “normal” looks like for us right now.

There is a hole in our team and in our hearts, and learning how to move forward without such an important part of our Farmhouse family — and without our friend — will come with its challenges. 💔

As we reopen, we ask that you please be especially gentle with our staff. We are all navigating an array of emotions and trying to find our footing in a space that simply doesn’t feel the same without Jimmy in it. We are incredibly grateful for the love, patience and support our community, friends, family and customers have shown us through this incredibly difficult time.

We are also asking for a little extra space and understanding for Meaghan in the coming days. She is still trying to process the very complicated loss of her close friend and work companion while simultaneously trying to fill the enormous shoes Jimmy left behind. At the same time, she is supporting her family and staff, operating the business, and figuring out how to recover from both the loss of such an important member of our team and the unexpected closure of the cafe last week.

There is a lot to carry right now, and we simply ask for patience and kindness as she — and all of us — figure out how to move forward one day at a time. ❤️

Your support means more to us now than ever.

In honour and memory of our dear friend and coworker, James “Jimmy” Slezak, Farmhouse 50 will be donating a portion of all coffee sales for the month of September to Canadian mental health and suicide-prevention organizations. 💙

So this month, we invite you to have a coffee with us. Buy one for yourself and maybe one for a friend. Sit down together. Reach out to someone you haven’t heard from in a while. Ask how they’re really doing — and take the time to listen.

Let it be a small reminder to check in on the people we love, to lead with kindness, and to remember that many people are carrying silent battles we may never see.

Tomorrow we turn the lights back on, put the coffee on and open our doors again.

It won’t feel quite the same.

But we know Jimmy would want us to keep going. 💙

I’ve been struggling to find the words to express our thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.

A few days ago, we suddenly lost our dear friend and coworker, James — who we all fondly knew as Jimmy. 💔

In our close-knit little Farmhouse family, Jimmy was so much more than a coworker or an employee. After working side by side with him in the kitchen for over six years, he had become one of my closest friends and was like an uncle to my three daughters.

Jimmy was kind and caring, with a heart that was bigger than most. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without a second thought and was always willing to lend a hand when someone needed it.

His laugh was infectious. We shared the same sense of humour, confided in each other, supported one another, spent time together outside of work, and shared so many moments over the years — both in the kitchen and beyond it. He was such a huge part of our lives, our team and Farmhouse 50, and his absence leaves a hole that simply cannot be filled. He will be missed more than words can express. ❤️

The support we have received from this community over the past week has been nothing short of phenomenal. To everyone who has reached out, checked in, sent a message, offered support or simply held us in your thoughts — thank you. We are incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such a caring community.

As we prepare to return to work and open our doors again, we can’t help but feel the enormous space left in our Farmhouse family without Jimmy.

As we navigate these first few weeks and welcome our customers back, we kindly ask for a little extra gentleness and understanding with our staff. We are all still processing an incredibly difficult, complicated and sudden loss, and those conversations may simply be too hard for some of us right now.

We are taking things one day at a time and learning how to move forward in a space that won’t quite feel the same without him.

But we are also truly looking forward to opening our doors and seeing our customers fill Farmhouse once again with the warmth, laughter and kindness that have always made this place feel like home.

We will reopen Tuesday, September 15, with our regular hours.

Thank you for giving us the time and space we have needed, for your patience while our doors have been closed, and most of all, for the incredible amount of love you have shown our Farmhouse family.

We look forward to seeing you next week. ❤️

And Jimmy — there will always be a place for you in our kitchen, in our stories and in our hearts. We miss you immensely.
