National Fishing Week kicks off this Saturday, June 27 — and as Canada’s longest running celebration of outdoor tradition, we’re proud to help spread the word.
From June 27 to July 5, Canadians are encouraged to get outside, cast a line, and reconnect with the water. With 60% of the world’s lakes and more than 2 million lakes, rivers, and streams, fishing isn’t just a pastime here — it’s part of who we are.
Whether it’s a quiet morning on the dock, teaching a kid to cast for the first time, or joining your local derby, fishing is one of the most accessible ways to enjoy the outdoors. It builds conservation values, supports mental well being, and fuels over $8 billion in economic activity across the country.
National Fishing Week is led by the Canadian National Sportfishing Foundation and supported by Keep Canada Fishing — organizations working year round to protect healthy waterways and ensure sustainable angling opportunities for generations to come.
If you love the outdoors, this is your week. If you love fishing, this is your season. If you love Canada, this is your tradition.
