Have you heard about the Nordic Diet? It is often compared to the Mediterranean Diet for its health benefits.

The Nordic Diet focuses on whole, seasonal, locally sourced foods and cold-pressed canola oil. In Nordic countries, cold-pressed canola oil is used as a heart-healthy everyday oil because it contains a balance of omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and is naturally high in vitamin E.

Unlike heavily refined grocery store oils, cold-pressed canola oil is mechanically pressed without added heat or chemicals, helping preserve its natural flavour and nutrients.

At Montney Gold, we grow our own non-GMO, no-spray canola in northern BC and cold-press it in small batches on our family farm. The result is a fresh, naturally golden oil with a clean, mild flavour that’s beautiful in dressings, dips, baking, and frying.

It is coming soon to the Rustic Pantry in Hudson’s Hope and a health food store near you.

Have you tried feeding cold-pressed canola meal vs regular solvent-extracted meal to your livestock? We’ve started pressing our own non-GMO, no-spray canola here in Montney and are thinking of offering it bulk as raw meal or pelletized in 50 lb bags.
