The sauce was on. This is the brand of tomato paste I use for my Sunday sauce unless I can’t find it. It’s the brand mom always used. A small connection to the past.

Kirby pickles appear in the fall when the local produce hits the markets, but by October, they’re gone. Last week I saw these in the market that came here all the way from Mexico.
Jarred them in a vinegar mix with jalapeño and a couple of other picanté peppers.
