Hi community!

We're happy to announce that Sankofa Farming Cooperative and Young Roots Farm are hosting 2 community volunteer days together at each of our farms. Join us for a day (or two!) of community building through land-based work and prepping the land for the upcoming season 🌱

Volunteer Day 1 - Friday, May 22. 8am - 4pm
Sankofa Farming Cooperative's Senneville plot
(39 Phillips Ave, Senneville, Quebec H9X 3X8)

Volunteer Day 2 - Friday, May 29, 8am - 4pm
Young Roots Farm
(245 Scotch Rd. Grenville-sur-la Rouge, QC J0V 1B0)

Because both of our volunteer days are quite a ways outside of Montreal, we only have the capacity for 8 volunteers per day, so please make sure you can commit when signing up! ☀️🥕

Here are our Loyola volunteer days for the month of May.

We’re going to have bi-weekly general volunteer days from 3-6pm, and two Black and Indigenous exclusive volunteer days from 11-3pm (dates seen on calendar)

Join us tomorrow for a land opening ceremony where we will lay the groundwork (pun intended) for another beautiful season of intention and unity. 11-3pm on our Loyola plot 🧡

We’re excited to be collaborating with our friends at the to bring you a herbal balm making workshop! We will be working with our very own dried herbs to make a balm that will keep your skin soft and lock out the cold!

We are calling on the wider community to help us in raising the funds necessary to support us through both our short-term and long-term goals of building community food sovereignty.

Redistribution of funds will go towards the sustaining farm programming, farming education for membership, purchasing a space to build a city farm, purchasing the materials required to build the farm, and honorariums to pay the executive members for their continuous labour towards building this space ✨

Last week, we had the honor of visiting a to help out with some end of season tasks! We helped out with the reinforcement of their gorgeous terrassed garden plots, and shared a delicious home-grown meal, before dreaming about the future of farming and land sovereignty while we watched the sunset ❤️🙂‍↕️

AFRO-INDIGENOUS ONLY: bi-weekly Sundays 10AM–3PM

Our Loyola plot address and community agreement are in our bio. Please read and sign before joining :)
