Officially one month since our last members came back from the wonderful Soul Fire Farm immersion program 🥕

Both this year and last year we learnt so much, made so many wonderful connections and left with our souls nourished 🌟

We remain inspired in the mission of food sovereignty✊🏾

Thank you to everyone who came through to help us pull the garlic 🧄✨

Garlic harvest is always a sentimental time for us — a reminder that the seasons are turning and fall is slowly making its way in. 🍂

We’re feeling deeply grateful and proud of this year’s bounty. Every bulb is a reflection of the care, patience, labour, and collective hands that brought it from seed to harvest.🌱✨

Just one month ago, we had the pleasure of co-hosting a Plant & Seed Exchange alongside our wonderful community collaborators Barbara Plant Wisdom 🌱 & Akhyra akhyra ✧ ᜀᜃᜒᜇ 🪴🐛🌦️

To revisit the day: it was an incredibly wholesome time of learning and sharing in knowledgeable conversation, directly on the land, and in essential resource! Barbara also led an interactive workshop on balcony gardening that spurred fruitful dialogue between our cohorts and attendees around different ways to plant with limited space. And for our refresher, we ate lots of delicious food then took a walk through the garden in some light rain; eyeing the range of new and evolving plants and critters all over the permaculture plot.

Sankofa x Young Roots volunteer day recap 2/2 🪻
On the 29th of May, we woke up nice and early and had our second volunteer day at Young Roots Farm in Grenville 🌱

Our teams and volunteers repaired beds with wood from the forest, weeded, planted some seeds, and shared a beautiful lunch ☔️

What a joy to share space, knowledge, and presence in this way 💛

This month's schedule looks a little different, but many things remain the same!
Tuesdays are our general volunteer days, 2pm - 5pm 🌱

Our afro -Indigenous days this month are :
5th - Senneville plot (this Sunday!)
12th - Loyola plot

And we're at Senneville every Friday from 10am - 2pm.
If you want to come along, text us - we might have an extra seat open! Otherwise, meet us there 🌼

Sankofa x Young Roots volunteer day recap 1/2 🌻
On the 22nd of May, both our teams and volunteers packed our gear and snacks and headed to our senneville plot for some much needed TLC for the land.

We shared knowledge, good vibes and prepped the land for the plants to come 🌾

Lots of weeding, lots of progress, and so much gratitude for the people who pour their labour and love into this beautiful space 💛
