I am a hobbyist beekeeper and sell my honey and bee products via farm gate sales (direct to consumer rather than through a retailer). My Honey is packaged raw (unpasteurized) and my bees feed on beautiful, pesticide free alfalfa just outside of Moose Jaw all summer long. You can also buy honeycomb and raw wax through Charlee Honey and I hope to have more products available in future such as candle
s and lip balm. I'm always willing to answer questions about bees and beekeeping so ask away if you're so inclined!

Haha so true!
Honey bees are more than just pollinators and honey producers ❤️
New research out of Australia suggests the venom from honeybees can kill some of the most aggressive breast cancer cells.
Welcome to your new home ladies!
I don’t have my bees yet but thought you’d like this story from another beekeeper. Wow!
Over the years I've removed some big hives. I even had one go viral, "Holy Huge Comb," a couple of years ago. Monday I removed the largest hive I've come across. Coming in at over 30 feet of combs, this was the big one.
A long overdue update...
Good news = I’ll have bees again in the next week or so. Winter kill devastated my hives two winters ago but now I’m cleaning up my equipment and repairing hives before my nuc arrives. Likely won’t have much honey this year as the hive gets established. Fingers crossed for 2021 🤞
Bad news = murder hornets! Seriously, that’s a thing. If you see them, report them!
While the invasive species was initially believed to be confined to limited coastal areas, the discovery of the specimen outside Langley may indicate the Asian giant hornets have spread wider than expected
My dog is currently hunting Sky Raisins
I haven’t posted for a few months as I’ve been waiting to see what’s happening with my bees. Turns out I only had one live hive. The bees I saw in the 2nd hive in April were actually just robbing.
The live hive was pretty decimated by varroa mites over the winter and now their numbers are only in the hundreds (when usually 40,000!)
So, my plan now is to do what I can for the hive that’s still alive but that means probably no honey this year. I will use this summer to clean and reorganize and repair equipment and start rebuilding with some new bees next year 🐝
Have a good summer everyone :)
After hiking through the snow I got a lovely surprise... they’re alive!
Feeder pails are on and they’re gearing up for spring 🐝
Cleaning up my bee supplies and gearing up for spring. Took this interesting photo today of my filtered beeswax cooling.
Well, due to the extreme drought conditions with no sign of it letting up, it looks like it won't be a great honey harvest this year :/
Drought = poorer crops = fewer flowers = less food for bees = less honey for me to steal for you
The girls are busy! Honey is being made, hope to harvest some in a few weeks :)
The other two hives are alive and well. Should be a good year for honey 🍯
They're ready for spring and this hive is thriving!
I'll open the other two hives tomorrow and see what's happening. A few more weeks and I can completely unwrap all of them 🐝
Finally put the girls to bed for the winter a few weeks ago. Late this year partly from my slacking but also because of the unusually warm weather. Keep your fingers crossed that they'll survive the deep freeze!
Sorry for not posting in awhile. I've been working!
I recently split my overpopulated hive to create what they call a nuc. Bought a queen for it and moved it from my bee yard near the city out to our farm.
If you can't buy my honey or honey from another local producer then buy Beemaid.
Everything else could just be corn syrup disguised as honey or full of pesticides from another country.

Do you think supporting local producers of your food is important? Did you know that Bee Maid Honey Limited is owned by over 300 beekeepers located in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta?
Next time you purchase or use BeeMaid honey, you can feel good about the fact that your honey is 100% pure Canadian and was produced and packaged right here in Canada!
Get working girls! It's springtime!
Hope to see you at Seedy Sunday tomorrow!
I made a display....ummmm....I mean some little kid did ;)
Beecology! I love it!
An Okanagan man who keeps the largest organic vineyard in Canada says everyone can do more to help save the honey bee. "Every orchardist, every vineyard person, every backyard gardener, no more pesticides. And also, leave 10 per cent on all your land as wild space and forage. Let the wild mustards g…
Fascinating creatures!
A team of researchers from The University of Western Australia's Centre for Integrative Bee Research (CIBER) have discovered that the seminal fluid of male bees kills the widespread sexually transmitted fungus Nosema apis, offering queen bees protection from the parasite which can be passed on durin…
I had a bunch of wax cappings left from the last honey run and I don't have a solar melter so I melted them down in a pan in my oven on a low temperature. Due to the late season foraging by the bees and the burnt honey from the iron that removes the cappings, there was a dramatic difference in the colour of the honey compared to the early season alfalfa honey. Wow!
Put the girls to bed for the season. This is the latest I've ever done it. We're so lucky to have such a warm autumn!
Bees are much smarter than we give them credit for. Such as tonight when I said, "This time of year the bees are really docile".
They had to prove me wrong!
Look what's coming your way! My first honey run of the year!
Here is a peek at my next project. I will be attempting to remove bees from a rooftop downtown Moose Jaw. I'll let you know how it goes next week!
I got a call from the city and from a friend who thought they had honey bees in their house. They both turned out to be bumble bees so I thought I'd post this great chart I found.
p.s. Please don't kill bumblebees! They're wonderful pollinators and non-aggressive.
Finally got my little brother Alex out to the bees. Don't mind the duct tape cod piece, the zipper on his suit was broken.
Bees are making honey like crazy. First honey run should be in August :)
Yikes! Are you accidentally killing bees? Read this article.
Well, I recently found out that I might be accidentally killing bees and I’m not happy about it. I’ll explain by telling you about my recent trip.
Nice night to take a new beekeeper out to show him the ropes and I don't think he was scared by 100,000 bees at all! He managed to snap a couple pics of me at work. Thanks Brandon!
Fantastic video and watch for those evil little brown Varroa mites crawling around!
The first 21 days of a bee's life are captured in this inspiring video by photographer Anand Varma. Bees pollinate 1/3 of the world's food crop but are being threatened by the Varroa destructor mite; Varma was hired to document the process.
Fly bees fly! You'll probably be better off!
A semitruck carrying millions of honeybees overturned on a highway north of Seattle early Friday, scattering hives and sending white-suited beekeepers scrambling to save as many insects as they could.
I love this video! Colony Collapse Disorder has not been a major problem in Canada but we should learn from what has been happening in the U.S.

I got out there early this year to check the hives and they are strong! (Sorry no pics this time)
