More producers are willing to share what they’re learning - the processes, ideas, technology and approaches that are helping them run the business better.

That kind of peer learning came up in our conversation with Colin Brisebois from Farm Credit Canada on The Truth About Ag.

The value isn’t just hearing a good idea. It’s learning from each other and figuring out what you can actually apply in your own operation.

Meet Tahlaya! 👋🚜

It’s hard to believe, but we’ve never officially introduced Tahlaya to our Social Media pages! She has been an incredible part of the HGV crew for two full summers. As she packs her bags to head back to school, we asked her to share a little bit about her time on the farm.

Here is her summer wrap-up:

🌱 From Office Helper to Builder: Last summer, Tahlaya spent most of her time helping out in the office. This year? She was totally hands-on! She spent tons of time outside, building different items, and learning new tasks on the fly.

🎨 The "Mastered" Skill: Before working here, Tahlaya says she was terrible at painting. After spending three weeks repainting our shop office this year (and all the doors last season!), she says she might not be a total "master" yet, but she’s definitely leveled up!

🐦 Best Memory: Her favorite memory was heading to Saskatoon for Ag in Motion with the crew. The absolute funniest moment? Accidentally sharing a bathroom stall with a very angry pigeon!

👋 What She Will (and Won't) Miss: Tahlaya says she is really going to miss coming to the farm every day and seeing the team—especially the girls in the office. What will she not miss? Mariah and Catherine constantly wandering around trying to find more things for her to paint! 😂

Join us in wishing Tahlaya a fantastic school year! Thank you for two amazing summers of hard work and laughs—we are going to miss you! ❤️🌾

Yesterday, our team gathered for our annual pre-harvest meeting. We spent the day running through the game plan for the upcoming season, covering everything from field logistics and combine operations to crucial safety and emergency measures.

A smooth harvest is important, but ensuring everyone gets home safe at the end of the day is always our number one priority.

We are officially prepped and ready to roll. Bring on harvest!

Agriculture doesn’t thrive without strong rural communities.

The people doing the work need schools, rinks, local organizations and communities they want to be part of.

Harvest technology is our most effective training tool for the team.

One of the biggest wins we’ve seen at HGV with John Deere’s automation tools is speed -- specifically, how quickly we can onboard and train new team members.

We let the machine handle the complex technical inputs, and our operators focus on the bigger picture of harvest management without the stress of constantly dealing with manual adjustments.

When we push our team to use automation tools, we not only save time and fuel. We actually accelerate the learning curve for our newer team members, helping to get them up to speed sooner.

Here is a snapshot from Harvest 2025 of our team’s technology utilization.

While we’re making good progress, this year we are pushing to keep those automation numbers rising as we continue to lean into these tools.

And if you're wondering, yes, it was Kristjan who generally sat in Unit #3 last year… 😂

The technology farmers keep using is the technology that earns its place.

John Deere Operations Center was not an instant success. Deanna Kovar explains how continued customer feedback helped it develop into a tool that some farmers now say they would not operate without.

Let’s keep the introductions rolling! We are excited to introduce you to our newest international hire, the amazing Ole Tegeler! 🌍🌾

💼 What He Brings to the Team:
Ole comes to us with multiple years of hands-on experience working on his family’s farm back home. On top of his practical experience, he holds a degree in Agribusiness and brings an incredible eagerness to learn new things. We absolutely love that drive! 📚🚜

🚙 Fun Fact:
"I can probably reverse a trailer better than I can parallel park a car..."
(Honestly, we'd say that is a highly underrated and essential farm skill! 😂)

We are so thrilled to have Ole’s expertise, hard work, and great attitude on the team this season.

We are so excited to shine a spotlight on the amazing international crew that helps keep this farm running! First up in our series is someone who is truly special to our team: Lucy. 🌟

📍 Hometown:
Ashley Gorge (a beautiful spot about an hour northwest of Christchurch on New Zealand’s South Island!).

🚜 Favorite Farm Job:
Driving the grain cart during harvest and running the harrows in the fall. But above all, her favorite part of the job is having a good laugh and some top-tier banter with her co-workers!

🍁 Favorite Canadian Discovery:
Slow pitch! 🥎 Lucy spent most of her summer Friday nights playing on a local team with a great group of friends. Even better? She says her absolute favorite discovery has been the incredible friends and "farm family" she’s made right here in Moosomin.

🌊 What She Misses Most from Home:
Aside from her friends and family, she misses spending time at her family's holiday house on the ocean and being so close to the mountains. 🏔️

We are so lucky to have you on the team, Lucy! Thanks for all the hard work, the positive energy, and the endless laughs.
