WE'RE HIRING: this is a long read but we are dedicated to finding the right fit.
DISTILLER / PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR
Help us build the next generation of BC spirits.
West Coast Spirits | Parksville, BC
¾ Time to Full-Time
Do you love spirits? Are you equal parts distiller, product creator, problem solver and tinkerer?
Do you get excited about taking an idea from a conversation, to a formulation, to a production run—and ultimately seeing it on a liquor-store or pub shelf?
Then we want to meet you.
West Coast Spirits, a division of Wolf Brewing Company, is a growing BC spirits company with a simple mission: create great spirits that people want to buy, at prices that make sense.
We’re proud to be BC’s Vodka—and our vodka business is growing. Now we’re ready for the next chapter: expanding our portfolio into new spirit categories and innovative ready-to-drink products.
We’re looking for a Distiller / Product Development Coordinator to take a hands-on role in making that happen. We anticipate this role being approximately ¾-time initially, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position as our business and product portfolio continue to expand. That said, we’re flexible for the right person and are open to structuring the role as full-time from the outset depending on the successful candidate’s experience, capabilities and fit with our team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
This is not a job where you’ll spend all day watching a still run. You’ll have the opportunity to influence virtually every part of our spirits business:
• Distill: Safely operate commercial-scale distilling equipment and produce a range of spirits, with vodka as our foundation and opportunities to expand into other spirit categories.
• Create: Develop recipes, formulations, flavour profiles and production processes that deliver great products and make commercial sense.
• Think like a consumer: Understand spirits trends, competitors, pricing and customer preferences—and turn those insights into products people actually want to buy.
• Develop RTDs: Formulate, test, scale and produce ready-to-drink canned beverages, including flavour balance, ABV, carbonation, stability and packaging.
• Innovate: Experiment with botanicals, flavours, blends and other ingredients to discover the next great West Coast product.
• Make the equipment sing: Operate, troubleshoot, clean and maintain stills, tanks, pumps, filtration systems, conveyors, fillers, labelers and other production equipment.
• Own quality: Maintain high standards for sanitation, food safety, batch consistency, documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Improve everything: Find safer, smarter and more efficient ways to produce our products while reducing waste and improving quality.
• Lead by doing: Work collaboratively with the broader Wolf Brewing / West Coast Spirits team and be willing to roll up your sleeves and get the job done.
YOU MIGHT BE OUR PERSON IF…
You bring:
• Commercial distilling experience and a strong understanding of safe distillery operations.
• Experience producing multiple spirit categories—or the curiosity and technical capability to learn them quickly.
• A creative mind, a good palate and the ability to turn an idea into a commercially viable product.
• A strong understanding of spirits markets, consumer trends and product positioning.
• Experience with RTD formulation, carbonation and canning is a major asset.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence troubleshooting production and packaging equipment.
• Knowledge of sanitation, HACCP/food-safety principles, quality control and production documentation.
• The ability to work independently, solve problems and make good decisions.
• An entrepreneurial mindset—you see opportunities rather than limitations.
• A team-first attitude and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
Formal distilling credentials are an asset, but proven commercial experience, creativity, technical ability and attitude matter most.
WHY WEST COAST SPIRITS?
Because we’re building something.
You won’t be joining a massive corporate distillery where your job is to manage one small piece of a massive production system. You’ll have a genuine opportunity to help shape our product portfolio and the future of the company.
You’ll be part scientist, part craftsperson, part engineer and part entrepreneur.
If you have ever thought, “I know how I’d make that better,” we want to hear from you.
READY TO JOIN THE PACK?
Tell us about your experience, the spirits you’ve made, products you’ve developed, equipment you’ve operated—and what you would love to create if you had the opportunity.
