Great tips from great people. Sharing is caring! 💕👇
Want to see more local events and businesses in your social media feed? Help teach your algorithm what you want to see!
At a meeting of local business owners this spring, we had a really interesting conversation about something we hear all the time:
"I wish I had known about that event!"
"I didn't even know that business was there!"
The reality is, Facebook/Instagram doesn't show everyone everything. What you like, comment on and especially SHARE tells Facebook what you're interested in. The more you interact with posts about local businesses, markets, events and community happenings, the more likely Facebook is to show you similar local content in the future.
And there's another side to it.
We have some fantastic small businesses in our area that don't necessarily have huge social media followings or the time and know-how to constantly keep up with Facebook's ever-changing world. That doesn't make their products, services or events any less amazing — it just makes them a little harder to find.
That's where all of us can help. ❤️
When you discover a great local business, share their post.
When you see an upcoming community event, share it.
When a local maker posts something they've created, give it a like or leave a comment.
It costs absolutely nothing, takes a couple of seconds, and helps more than you probably realize.
The more we share local, the more LOCAL shows up in our feeds — and the more we help our neighbours, businesses, makers and community events get seen.
See something local you love? Hit SHARE. 🍁❤️
