Hi šŸ‘‹! I’m Kendra, one of the farmers here at Green Hart Farms.
This morning I was out in the field picking garlic scapes, and I had one of those little moments — you know the kind where just the smell of something makes you want to eat it- those scapes were so sweet, fresh, garlicy, green… just alive.

That’s the magic of growing food the slow, natural way. On our farm just outside New Hamburg, we grow over 40 kinds of veggies using nature-forward practices: we avoid chemical sprays, plant pollinator habitat for beneficial insects šŸž, and use natural nutrient sources like compost + dried manure to keep our soil alive and healthy. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it.
And in August, we get to share that magic with you. We’re offering a 10‑week in‑season eating experience: weekly deliveries of fresh, hand‑picked veggies from our farm to your home.
You’ll get:
šŸ… Tomatoes that taste like tomatoes
🄬 A beautiful seasonal progression of veggies
🄘 Weekly recipes + farm updates so you can follow along with the harvest
āœ”ļø A chance to stock your freezer for winter
ā° Delivery right to your door (in K-W, Stratford, Cambridge, Guelph, and New Hamburg+area)
Small shares start at only $36.82/wk.
If you’d like to be part of this summer’s harvest, join our launch list here: https://greenhartfarms.ca/harvest-share/

Some pics of veggies that are coming up...

Zucchinis and cucumbers are just starting to produce.

Tomato plants have green tomatoes on them (no ripe ones yet), we harvested the first jalepeno peppers last week, we'll start on purple bell peppers next week (only a few at the beginning, though).

On the other side, the lettuce has succumbed to all of the heat, and we won't have a broccoli harvest by the looks of it because the worst heat days happened just when it was starting to head : (.

We really tried to get some good broccoli this year! So it's a bit disappointing.

Spinach is also all done until the fall, but we will have lots of other greens like kale, new zealand spinach, and chard.

We have been bringing in beets from other local farmers the last couple weeks as we are in between beet patches- but we will have more of our own beets, too! Because the spring was cool, and our seeder was having issues, our first patch of beets outside was not nearly as productive as it would normally be.

Veggie deliveries start NEXT week!!😮 If you haven’t got your membership yet, today is your very last chance to sign up on time to get in on next week’s deliveries (note that biweekly shares start the week after next week). Here’s the link: https://green hart farms.ca/spring-2026-csa-2

This week we got the potatoes planted, put more onion transplants in, and cleaned up our pack shed so we have a clean place to work (it’s amazing how messy it can get in there!). The dogs finally found the ideal place from which to pup-ervise all of the humans.

ā—ļøIf you got an email or emails yesterday saying that a payment plan or order has been created, when you didn’t actually order from us recently, don’t worry- no new order or payment plans have been created!! We’re migrating our ordering to a new system and I forgot to turn of the emails šŸ˜®šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø. The system thinks that it all old orders/payments are new ones at a certain stage in the migration. Sorry about this!

Only 21 days until we need to have something to harvest for our first veggie deliveries!😮

We've been busy laying biodegradeable mulch, transplanting, weeding our hoophouses, cleaning out the cooler, planting seeds, and potting up plants in the last few days. It's a crazy time of year- and a bit stressful.

We're always wondering if we're going to have enough veggies to fill orders for that first week, and if our plants will grow quickly enough (but not too quickly, because we don't want bolted lettuce or bok choi!).

When it gets cold, we really start to worry that things won't grow quickly enough; when it gets warm and sunny it gets hot quickly in our hoophouses, so we worry that our cold tolerant spring greens will be triggered to bolt (go to seed) early.

Then there are the pests- sometimes flea beetles and slugs decide to make an early debut and devour our crops😬- which is why we spent some time covering our brassicas with insect netting this week.

Sometimes it feels like we just can't win! But in the 10 years we have been doing this, we have somehow always had something good to harvest for the first week, and we know that we will have enough again this year šŸ™‚

FYI, If you haven't got your veggie box membership yet, we still have some spaces available in our veggie box program. All of the info is here: https://greenhartfarms.ca/spring-2026-csa/

25 days till first veggie deliveries! 😮

Yesterday we were laying biodegradable mulch and getting some plant babies in the ground before the rain. Today the soil is too wet to do anything, so we’re glad that we put the extra effort in!

Now we’re looking forward to a day off tomorrow.

Veggie box details are here at https://greenhartfarms.ca if you haven’t got your share yet.
