Seeing snow on cows in weather like today is a good sign. It indicates their thick coat is trapping in body heat rather than losing it. Think of it like when you wear your winter coat outside in winter.

To make sure cows stay warm in winter, they eat extra food. Think of their stomach like a wood stove. The more wood you feed the fire, the warmer it will be. Our cattle also have shelters to go in to get out of the wind and snow if they choose to.

Have you ever heard of Jowl bacon before?

It comes from the cheek of a pig unlike regular bacon that comes from the belly.

It's a highly flavorful, rich and a fattier cut. It's known for its soft, juicy and tender texture. You can cook it crispy like bacon for breakfast or use it as part of a recipe. It's delicious! 😊

You know its cold out when Zeeko looks a little frosted.

He has a nice bed out of any wind with a ton of straw to stay warm if he wants. He has a very thick double coat like a husky, and loves the cold weather unlike us! Central Asian Shepherds are made for cold weather like we get, which is another reason we went with this breed over others.

He'll be getting him a coworker later this summer to help patrol the farm! We are very excited! 😁
