‘Tis that time of year when everything is ramping up to wind down. Lots of the hardest work is over for the year but also now a rush to get things done before the snow flies! Start to turn plans for next year o to reality by starting this year.
We hope next year to have a farm stand/shack up and running which will be by appt for pick ups and perusing and we will be adding to the line up of offerings including themed and custom furniture that’s for storage or litter box usage for the free roamers, edible huts and hides, toys and enrichment equipment and anything we can think of or that you can, that you want for your furry little friends!
For the humans we should be able to offer some fresh produce, baking and preserves, as well as themed gift items. Lots to do!!

It’s that time of year when we finally realize we need to shift gears from getting going on all the summer stuff to we need to get going on, to getting going on everything we haven’t done yet before fall hits and quickly turns into winter!!
Where has this summer gone, exactly, and what about this year in particular made it go by so fast?
My head is still stuck in the “add this to the list for this summer” mode and really I should be panicking at this point because I’m running out of summer to get things done in! Eeeeek!! Who am I kidding? I AM panicking!!
One thing that always makes me happy and calls me down (besides actually getting things done that is) is taking photos of the pretty things on the farm. Lots of those this time of year!

Nothing much to see …. Just four out of five little peepers that our six year old bachelorette girl “Crow” hatched for us because she decided she wanted some babies.
She’s not related, she’s never been near a rooster except that she has to listen to their daily howlings like the rest of us do here hahaha but she was stealing everyone’s eggs and insisting she wanted to sit on them so after 23 days of dedicated care, she got five chicks safely and happily into the world and now she’s a great mom, teaching them to peck and kick and clucks at them appropriately. 💕
Now her sister “Raven” is also thinking sitting on eggs might be cool. Maybe she’ll get some too, why not?

Little blue tractor and ancient baler hiding out after some maintenance at the end of harvesting - we see you! I never realized how amazingly intricate and complex and exact a baler has to work to do its job until this one. They are absolutely brilliantly designed and such a marvel to see in action!
Good job, you two!

Ok I admit it!! I jinxed it!!
Currently absolutely tipping down as hard as it can …. And in between my last, very optimistic post and today - it’s definitely gone downhill! 🙄

Blistering sun, oppressive humidity, wild destructive winds and microburst storms have been what’s going on the last couple of weeks! 😳

Ah well. Like every year, it’s a toss up what will happen from day to day, from hour to hour or minute to minute!

The hay is very tall and green, we have a full array of feed and treats available and a gorgeous collection of colourful eggs on offer!

I don’t want to jinx it by saying anything but I think this weather is great! ☀️

The hay is happily growing, the fresh greens are so green and tall and apparently taste spectacular - I’ve consulted the experts on that 🐴🐰🐓🐹

While that all does its thing, I’m working on infrastructure with a new feed shed to store all feeds for everyone in one place and am fixing my small hay building because it sustained storm damage this past year and it’s time to take things apart and make it tornado proof.

Thankfully for the super hard lifting or carrying work I have a machine, and for inspiration I have the critters and the nature here! We have gorgeous native orchids called lady slippers and they are coming out now. We have all sorts of flowering native perennials and also in the gardens lovely plants and bushes that are now blooming. 😁💕

Of course being the silly person I am, I’ve gone and bought more bushes and perennial plants which I now have to plant sometime soon haha but oh well even though it’s more work it’s happy work! Now if we could convince the mosquitos to go do their work somewhere else that would be great!!

I’ll share some more photos soon but right now I think it’s time take a break and get in out of range of the bugs!

Remember all those little fuzzballs from before?

They are now fully feathered crazy scooting flapping ninja birds, wreaking havoc in their new pen.

Currently they are together but in what will seem like a too-short time they will be separated into breed groups and hopefully they will settle down because right now these chicks are wild! 🤪 😂

It is a bit hilarious watching them sort themselves out much like Lord of the Flies or Survivor vibes haha

One thing is for sure, they are having a cluckin’ good time!! 🎉🐥

Rain Rain, Go Away!

Wait …. It Worked!!!

So happy to see the sun out today and that things are greening up out there!!

Fresh greens are now available, as are fresh eggs!

Of course we always have hay, timothy pellets and cubes, chew stick bundles and treat pellets now too!
