Happy Mother’s Day to the ones who nurture, guide, encourage, and love so deeply.

Today we celebrate the quiet strength of all the mothers and mother figures out there that make the world a little brighter 🤍

Who doesn't love a good snow day!?

When the footing is safe, working in the snow is one of my favourite ways to build real, functional muscle.

The extra depth means every step is like a mini hill: they have to sit a little more, lift a little higher, and push a little stronger with their hind end.
That gentle resistance wakes up the core and topline muscles, without the pounding of hard ground.

There’s another quiet bonus: sunshine and fresh air. Winter turnout and hacking in the open help support vitamin D, mood, and immune health for both horses and humans, and mentally they get a reset from being out of the four arena walls. A change of scenery sharpens their focus, breaks the boredom, and keeps them more willing in their work once we are back inside.

Slow, thoughtful walk and trot sets in good snow help keep them fit, supple, and ready for spring instead of losing all that summer muscle over winter.

As always, we skip the ice, keep the snow depth reasonable, and spend extra time warming up and cooling down so those cold muscles and joints stay happy.

Winter work doesn’t have to be fast to be effective—done right, those quiet snowy rides are where a lot of the muscling magic actually happens.

Christoph Hess talks about the basics that we all need to remember: “Give the horse the feeling of freedom when you sit on it, always the feeling that it can move forward. Most riders all over the world use their hands to try and control their horse, the neck starts to shorten and then it all starts to go wrong.”
Carl Hester shows us how to give the right feeling:

As we close out 2025 we feel the Gratitude.

To our wonderful clients: thank you for your trust, partnership, and belief in our program; it is a privilege to be part of your journeys with your horses and we are proud of you.

To our incredible staff: thank you for your hard work, heart, and horsemanship this past year; your care, courage, and quiet extra miles make everything we do possible.

As we step into the Year of the Horse, we are especially aware of how fortunate we are to spend our days alongside these generous, powerful, and willing animals.
Horses remind us every day what true energy, resilience, and forward momentum look like, and we carry that spirit into the new year with hope and determination.
Looking ahead in this Year of the Horse, we look forward to growing, learning, and achieving new goals together—one ride, one lesson, one quiet barn moment at a time.

From our barn family to yours, wishing you health, joy, and many good rides in the year ahead—Happy New Year!
