Meet the faces behind Project Brew 🍻

From different paths, places, and passions, our Brewmaster students have come together with one thing in common a love for craft beer and the drive to keep learning, creating, and pushing the industry forward

John Brown discovered his passion later in life and after nearly a decade in the industry chose to challenge himself again now setting his sights on the Master Cicerone level

Lachlan Robertson a St Catharines native found his calling after years in the restaurant scene during the craft beer boom and is ready to take that passion into the industry

Hamse Shin took a leap into brewing with no prior experience and has built a strong foundation through hands on learning and dedication to mastering a unique craft

Ramandeep Singh turned curiosity into purpose traveling from India to Canada to pursue brewing and aiming to bring high quality craft beer to the market

Colin McAmmond traded the financial world for fermentation inspired by creativity community and a simple but powerful love for beer

Hi there! My name is Alonso Castro, I come from Lima, Peru🇵🇪, and I’ve always had a big love for beer. I’ve always been passionate and curious about it, but it wasn’t until I came to Canada that I realized how much there was to learn, which is also one of the main reasons I love it. Back home, I studied gastronomy and earned my bachelor’s degree, which taught me the importance of creativity and attention to detail when it comes to the food and beverage world. While most of my experience was on the food side, I’ve brought that same mindset into my beer recipes.
Curious to dive deeper into the beverage side, I found Niagara College’s brewery program, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Since day one, I’ve been soaking up all the knowledge I can to help me grow in this amazing industry. I’d also love to use what I’ve learned to explore new recipes inspired by Peruvian ingredients and traditions, blending my roots with craft beer creativity.
Over the past few months, my classmates and I have been working hard to bring you great beers and a unique experience at our Project Brew, so you won’t want to miss it!
See you all on August 8th!
