Attention Port Colborne Farmers' Market and St. Catharines Farmers' Market goers...

We are truly dissappointed and heartbroken to announce that we won't be attending markets this season. We had so many plans for this year, applied for both markets, we seeded 150 varieties of tomatoes & other exciting things and had a trip planned to Newfoundland next month which is now canceled. We are taking time to recoup and recover as its been a rough start to growing with this unusual weather so far this year where we have been hustling to keep our seedings healthy, than one of us was hospitalized, one of us had surgery and the last of us is scheduled for surgery at the begining of July. We have known about the last one since last spring/summer but we're assured it would take place in January and recover would be done done farming season.

We felt it important to make this post for full transparency and so speculations wouldn't circulate.

The Lucky Tiger tomato is an indeterminate, artisan heirloom variety producing elongated, 2-inch striped fruits that are dusky red with green and golden hues. "Piennolo del Vesuvio" is a small, pear shaped, deep red tomato. It is a very unique tomato, it has extremely long keeping qualities and the flavor is richly sweet if allowed to fully ripen. You can preserve off the vine for several months by removing to entire cluster when 70% of the fruit is ripe and hang in a cool well ventilated location.

Happy Sunday friends,

Just about finished seeding tomatoes. With seeding close to 170 plus varieties, I've been stagering seedings so they all don't need up potting at once.

With the seed supply going down and my seed container looking empty, I've start thinking about what varieties I'd like to seed next year.

Who here grows a garden? Is it a traditional garden, raised beds, or container gardening?

We have seeded a total of 109 varieties of tomatoes so far with approximately 70 more to go!

We were in the polytunnel last year this time but with the weather being cooler this year everything will stay in the house until they need up potting in a few weeks. Hopefully by then it will be warmer outside and we can move everything to it then.

Many more rounds to come. These are peppers which needs constant heat for better germination rates. Certain seed types prefer warmer begins and once they have popped we can remove from heat mat and start round 2
